About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

Doug. It was sweet as well. However I never tried with other than stock tubes. For around $8,000 it's not a bad amp. Am I going to buy it ? Not after heard the A5000 DHT. :D

Also there are lot of nice amps in that price range.
i think im going to try to borrow the t1500 that is by my house, if the guy hasnt sold it yet. just to hear something different while my amps are being upgraded(for a month!!). hope im not too late. see if when my amps come back if i can live without it or not.

That's a great idea Steve. Let us know what happens.

Steve, what are you having done to your amps ?

there is a high speed ,low noise rectifier upgrade
4 new caps, 6 bypass electrolytics, and im thinking about the wbt binding posts. its about $750 plus shipping and with the new posts would be $1100. that includes the $125 per amp bench fee. the person i spoke to at cary said they would be like a new pair of amps, open and bigger stage with more focused imaging.
but being without a little music when i get home from work even for just a few minutes a night for an entire month really would suck. so im holding out until i find something to test out while they are gone.
turns out even though they dont make my amps for production anymore they still build custom pairs and keep upgrading them. and since i bought them used and(for the first time in years) see them sticking around for awhile , i figure they can look them over and make sure they are in perfect working order.

haha!! tough choice paul. im giving the t1500 a run on these cornwalls, see if its for me while the carys are gone for upgrades.
im picking it up after 4th of july weekend.
i know it wasnt for you, but im hoping for a different result. few more db's of sensitivity and a smaller speaker to run. and matching with the allnic phonostage i have high hopes.
btw while your deciding my carys are 15w 300b's and can cary(pun intended) alot of power into your speakers. its a great value in a pair of solid amps. might not be as revealing or accurate and perfect as the 5000's but for the money they sure are a fun pair of amps to listen to some good tunes on.
go hear that western electric badass please!!!! let me know what you think. ive been dying to hear that for awhile.

Yeah its 10:35 PM and still no text from him either this evening. I guess he likes the the fresh tubes in his 275.

Here I am :hi:

I was just frustrated placements on small tubes on my MC275 due to their lay out is different on MK V vs VI. I still don't have a clear answer by Tube Maze yet but I put the 6550's on its place :D

You should be able to tell where they go depending on how many of each he sent you. Aren't there three 12AX7's and four 12AT7's?

I know the letters aren't the same but the quantity should be an indicator.
