While vacationing with the family in the San Francisco area, I had the fortunate opportunity to meet with Larry Toy (astrotoy) and spend the better part of the day talking high end, Larry's amazing archiving project, and of course, music. Larry's home is filled with music, starting with the 2 large pianos in the family room. That leads to his dedicated listening room that is FILLED with music. I'm talking wall-to-wall and even then, a good amount spills out to the other rooms as well!

We later made a quick stop to Amoeba and Rasputin record store in Berkley. Huge inventory, and I did find a few LPs to take home with me.:P After that we met with Larry's friend/consultant Tim (forget his last name) and listened to his MPros/Constellation setup. OMG, what a setup! THE most fluid sound I've ever heard with no distortion, hardness, or glare! I don't know how I can go home and listen to my system anymore! I'm ruined!

Larry, thank you for opening your home and sharing your music and stories with me. Love your passion and dedication to music. Inspirational to say the least!

I have a feeling that if I saw Larry's collection up close I'd burst into tears!

Very nice Allen. So great that you two were able to meet up to share conversation, a walk thru Larry's museum of music (I'm sure!) and time listening to some beautiful music together. Thanks for sharing your visit to Larry's and beyond with us.

Jack, I have maybe 3-5 original Decca SXL series, Larry has them all! And the EMI series, Harmoni Mundi, Opus 3, Mercury, RCA Living Stereo, etc. and I think he has a story for each one, too! All curated over the years and archived for future generations on I forget how many TBs of hard disk! Amazing!

Mike, you should hear the stories Larry has to share about the albums or music. A walking encyclopedia of classical music for sure!

Since the chance of my being included in Larry's will is zero, I'll settle for his book :D

Allen, it was great to meet you, too. Thanks for the kind words from you and others. Collecting is fun, and now that I am retired and have the time, playing back is also fun.

Larry
