2015 System Upgrades

I have two interviews next week with startups, so I hope to upgrade my job. For the two channel, the only thing I can predict is two Shunyata Sigma HC power cords for the amps. I have new speaker wires on order for the HT, and unless Fed-Ex shows up soon they will be a next year upgrade. I would like to get a Bryston SP3 pre for the HT, but I would prefer finding a used one around 50% off. All in all, even if I get nothing, I am very happy with things as is.

Pass XS phono
Esoteric K-01x with SRS clock
New top tier cart - not sure which one

Very nice, Mike. You will love the K-01X, it is a giant from a performance perspective.

My 2015 upgrades hope to include:

Soulution 520 Preamp
Kimber Select ICs and SCs
Raidho D3 V2

My big planned upgrade for 2015 was to get an analog rig. After researching a bit early this year, I just couldn't wait to get into vinyl, so I pulled the trigger in 2014!:P

Here she is, my 2015 upgrade: my new Kronos Sparta TT and AirTight cart!:audiophile:

Ha, now of course I need a pre and phono stage, so I guess that's on my list for 2015 now!

Beautiful turntable, Allen! Best of luck with it.

considering i just competed my system end of 2014, i thunk 2015 will be reserved purely for lots of music purchases.
The only thing i could see me purchasing may be a new cart or 2 :)

...speakers, two more integrateds & a set of mono amps, all valves, another cartridge, a phono amp & a stand alone pre. that'll do for a start......

....don't do it!! You'll sell the "Strads", promise...... ask me how I know....... :snicker:

I've often read that the MC2301s are a magical match with the Strads... Tell us more Kev. As an MC2301 owner, I am a big believer. Is it that the MC2301s lay bare the deficiencies of the Strads?

I know you've been there and done that but I had a giant goosebump moment with Strads, MC2301's, C500T and a killer vinyl setup. It was a memorable moment for sure.

:disbelief: Strads have no deficiencies :)

Getting more use. Probably the best overall sounding source component in the system.

Now running NOS A820 Tranfoless output cards which have improved with some hours. There is no transformer with these cards so the C1000T has to work harder boosting the gain / volume levels. These cards have lifted the performance of this beauty even more. So much so, I wouldn't contemplate the thought of direct wiring the heads to an external pre-amp.

That's what I believe! I am a Strad lover but have not heard them being driven by the MC2301s and C1000T. I could only guess that they would be even more revealing driven by this combination, strung with the right silver wire.

Sonus Faber recommends 20 wpc or more.

Can you post a link?

Can the Strads work on 50 watts? There is a barely used set of Dehavilland KA50s out there that might work really well.

Joe, the comment was tongue in cheek. I remember saying to you that i thought going to the strads was a step back for you & you are absolutely thrilled with them, that is why I nay on the 2301's, you'll probably love them too.
Steve for me the 2301's are not my cuppa as they have the KT88's in them & to me the general slant of that tube is too much everything & not enough separate things, as in it doesn't excel it just plods along with it all. As for shortcomings, yes the strads have some imo.
