Gauder RC7 MK2

Interesting. Do these have a U.S. Presence?
I don't know but what I do know is that these are really good sounding speakers. Very powerful, musical speakers. Relatively unknown even though they are around for 40 years and highly acclaimed by the European audio pressI think they might benefit form the current active speakers revival. Since they have DAC's inside you could drive directly from a streaming device or computer source. And this is what is taught to be the thing that customers want nowadays, at least in Europe that is.

Definitely worth checking this out Mike. The BM35 and BM50 are the absolute top in the world and I wouldn't be surprised that they will replace other speakers from your own listening room :-)

We should Allen! And if we're going, we would have to go business class at a minimum.

He is absolutely a character! I bought my Symphonic Line monos and CDP from him, and whenever I call him with a question I make sure to set aside an hour because the conversation can easily run that long. And the conversation often turns to things other than audio. I think he also has a degree in political science - a true Franklinesque/Renaissance Man kind of guy with all sorts of interests, who cusses like a sailor too!

Ken Stevens at CAT will talk to you for an hour as well. I went into his room at CES and could not leave as he almost stepped on my foot to keep talking.

so true Ken at CAT, loves to yack and is a total wealth of knowledge!

to bad CAT gear, doesn't get the praise it truly deserves, he'll never win any awards for looks, because CAT gear is ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE FIRST!

Stuff coming out of CAT today is Phenomenal (Resolution/Transparency/Dynamic etc..) in the Tube world, CAT has no equal. kinda like a SET amp on Steroids! Tube Amps that actually do Bass like SS amps

BERLINA RC 7 MK II looks like a winner!

Does anyone have the latest of TAS? Apparently there is a review of the Gauder RC9's in there.

Mike - I have the latest issue of TAS (September) and while there is no formal review of the Gauders, there is a brief mention of them in their report from Munich. Sorry but I don't think I should post it here for copyright reasons, TAS is known to be pretty strict about that.

Thanks Bill. I found them under Golden Ear Awards (review forthcoming). Well, that's a good sign!

Nope - these are the Mk1's. VERY misleading ad by the previous distributor.

Big big differences between the 1 and 2. The 2 reportedly has a killer new crossover, diamond tweeter, etc.

Mike,

For an additional speaker brand, I would consider Tidal, Vandersteen and YG. These are all great brands with superb sound and high build quality and reputation.

Best,
Ken

Thanks Ken. I have the Rc7 mk2's coming to me in about 3 weeks to have/demo for 2 weeks. I think that brand is about to explode in popularity. Dr. Gauder has done some amazing things in the design of the crossover, use of materials, cabinet design, etc.

Stay tuned....but keep the suggestions coming!

That's great, Mike, congrats! I've never heard the Gauder but if David says they rival the Raidho's, I believe him. He has a great ear.

Best,
Ken

I agree. I can't wait to hear them in my room, but I am keeping all options open. I REALLY like Tidal too.

Next logical question, what choice of amp(s)?

Air Tight, Pass, T+A.

Speaking of T+A, I'm so glad they won a Golden Ear award. I've been harping on about T+A for months. It's amazing sounding stuff, built like a brick shit house (it's build quality rivals Accuphase) and is priced fairly in the market.
