Here in the US there has been a long effort to dummy down our children. Idiocracy was not a comedy, it was a Documentary.

I bought a Used VAC Pre years ago and had Tube questions. Kevin spent 30 minutes on the phone with me. That is how they all should treat people who purchase their gear new or used.

Surround Sound can be good with the right movie and effects, but recently I find most movies have too much sound on top of the dialog. I find myself watching thru my stereo instead of the HT system a lot.

What I really dislike about Reviewer, Reviews, and Demos is that Dianna Krall in now way demonstrates what any given system can do with more than one instrument and some vocals. Rarely do I hear any demos or reviewer using music I actually listen to so most are useless to me.

I am happy with the standard set on my Fynes.

and the Bonus is even if it's music you don't listen to and it somehow sounds good.

I have been to too many electric concerts that I would NOT want my system to sound like.

Being a Bass Head, I listen to the bassist more than anything. I like a system they draws me into the music as to be tapping my feet or dancing in my seat. I like when the band is in the room, not over there in the corner.

I like how you summed it up on "Reference" Back in the 90s and 00s, there were pcs of gear sort of labeled as Reference Gear and reviewers compared other units up for review to the Reference pcs. That way people who heard the Ref Unit would have an idea as to how the unit being compared would be.

With the small bit of bickering here, for High End Gear, this is the best place I have found. I have been a member since Mike's first year. There was a bit more discussion back then. Maybe there was more new and interesting gear. Maybe more people were in the market for new gear. Maybe multiple...
