Welcome Kelly! Looks like you're having some fun with that gear. Older + newer can bring surprisingly great sound. I too run a VPI Classic turntable and though there are better decks, this one sound wonderful to my ears. No reason to change at this point in my journey. Happy listening.

One solution for gain matching between preamplifier and power amplifiers was provided with the ARC SP-11. Having separate Gain and Level adjustment (knobs) allowed a user to drive power amps however they wanted. With the variable Gain adjustment you could dial in the "power-band" so to speak of...
