a few thoughts - Fender Blues jr (one with tubes), Peavey classic 30, I have a Trace Elliot Velocette (but there's no reverb). No longer being made. It's got a nice clean tone for my arch top but it would need to be turned up pretty loud for distortion.

Cardas Clear Cygnus loom here. - All the cords/cables, with a Cardas Nautilus power strip. They lowered the noise (which I didn't realize was there), more dynamic range, extended and clear lows and highs, beautiful rich mids, but that's just my ears and my particular system of course.

Good points, but I wonder about live recordings. I know the basic mic-ing techniques. Went to school for it, not that I remember it all at this point. But when you hear that real space, the reverb of the place, on a good stereo, I think we're getting closer to how the real thing sounded.. Sure...
