IsoAcoustics GAIA III Neo: Serious Engineering

I can't comment on Stack, never tried them. I've got Isoacoustic Gaia IIIs under my speakers, and their Oreas under my CD transport, DAC and integrated amp. They all made a very nice improvement to me. I'm hesitant to put them under my RELs as I think that their feet are designed to be a certain...

    System Update

I don't think I can offer any help, except to give a thumbs-up to the Isoacoustics. I have a pair of RELs with a front-firing 10" and down firing passive 10". They sit right next to my Fyne speakers. Adding the Isoacoustic feet to the Fynes made a nice difference as I figure the RELs were...

    Hello

a few thoughts - Fender Blues jr (one with tubes), Peavey classic 30, I have a Trace Elliot Velocette (but there's no reverb). No longer being made. It's got a nice clean tone for my arch top but it would need to be turned up pretty loud for distortion.

What are the odds of that?

    Jan Phillips 12AU7 upgrade

The new Gold Lions made in Russia sound nice, but I haven't used them much as I haven't used up all of my old American & European NOS 12AU7s yet. (That'll be a sad day). I may be crazy or have unique ears, heck I guess we all do, but lately I'm loving the NOS GE 6189s (12AU7s). They're not super...

Power Cords - what's your favorite?

Cardas Clear Cygnus loom here. - All the cords/cables, with a Cardas Nautilus power strip. They lowered the noise (which I didn't realize was there), more dynamic range, extended and clear lows and highs, beautiful rich mids, but that's just my ears and my particular system of course.

MSB Sentinel DAC arrives at Suncoast Audio

I just looked up the retail price. I would love to visit your shop someday, not that I'm in that kinda market, but to hear your products. For me it's a drive across alligator alley.

    Foot Fetish

Sorry for the late reply. The feet made a very nice improvement. The usual stuff we all like to talk about.

That's beautiful. Maybe I'll try it on my pine CD wine boxes.

Is Class A still the king of tone?

Good points, but I wonder about live recordings. I know the basic mic-ing techniques. Went to school for it, not that I remember it all at this point. But when you hear that real space, the reverb of the place, on a good stereo, I think we're getting closer to how the real thing sounded.. Sure...

To Switch or Not to Switch?

@MontanaJoe (and the rest) That was a great and passionate essay. But isn't it funny that we've all gone into pizza talk? I'm so hungry that I think I'll get one tonight. Some simple thin crust Margarita that's available around here.

To Switch or Not to Switch?

I had a similar experience when I recently added Isoacoustics Gaia Neo feet to the speakers. In my case they are on a wood floor, with a pair of RELs with down firing passive 10" drivers right next to them, so I guess it makes sense. But like you say, it was night & day. - and for a nice change...

Audiophile fakery - opinions are a like .....

Scamorza? I asked my girlfriend who lived in Italy for many years. She knew it. Now I'm craving a Chicago pizza made with Scamorza... I wonder if they deliver to Florida. Hey, Gino's East does, frozen. You never know. That's on my list of tasks for today :)

Audiophile fakery - opinions are a like .....

Hey, I'm in SoFlo. I need to look up the pizza places you mentioned! On your primary topic, well said. I have a stereo system that in total costs less than some of the mega-bucks DACs discussed here. I love it. I'm proud of it. It sounds great. It's been a long and fun journey, but I wouldn't...
