I'm not a fan of ASR either... All I can add is that I had a Cary SLI80 for a few years and a Cary 303 CD player - enjoyed them. Adjusting bias monthly on the amp was a PITA to me. I've never had separates so what do I know. Living happily now with a Primaluna 300 integrated.
I'm probably out...
I'm just happy to read here that people hear a difference in cables. On another particular forum that I participate in I would be laughed out of the place. Currently enjoying Cardas.
I want nothing to do with it. I have a brain, knowledge gained over the years, personality, thoughts and opinions. I'm human.. When I have questions about anything I'd rather speak with another human.
(I'm worried about my stereo)
I live in south Florida, prone to occasional hurricanes. The power company, Florida Power and Light, is installing underground lines now in our neighborhood. They're a year late from when they said that it would be done, but they were here today working on it. We...
I prefer to use my ears and move speakers and subs around. They've found their places, the subs' crossovers and gains are barely dialed up and everything is sounding great. We all have different ears and preferences. I have some tinnitus, and I like tubes... I don't know what DSP would do for me.

I have a pair of the 501SPs. The amount of bass surprised me. Of course I eventually...
Yeah, I feel that 'high-end' is a continuum. When I got out of college, I got a half-time job teaching band in public school. I think it payed 9K for the year. There was a local hi-fi shop in town. I went in one day with a few CDs and listened to a pair of Meadowlark Kestrels through a Bryston...
I'm not sure about a particular dollar amount, ( although $1,000 does sound like a baseline from what I look at), but I'd start with:
Good design
Good parts (every part)
Point to point wiring (good wire and skillful solder job)
I can't comment on Stack, never tried them. I've got Isoacoustic Gaia IIIs under my speakers, and their Oreas under my CD transport, DAC and integrated amp. They all made a very nice improvement to me. I'm hesitant to put them under my RELs as I think that their feet are designed to be a certain...
