While searching for some hard to find Rowland gear, I came upon a retailer's site that had a demo Zitron Anaconda PC for sale. I didn't buy it at first as I've never been a big cable guy - I buy mostly MOR stuff from TA and Cardas. But there's been so much buzz around these PCs and the price seemed reasonable for a reference power cord (albeit, the most I've paid for any cable!). So after a few weeks of hemming and hawing, I purchased it to feed my Rowland Model 8TiHC.
Immediately out of the box that proverbial veil just dropped. I was closer to the music than ever before. I never realized how much hash I was hearing until it was gone. Now it wasn't like taking cotton balls out of the ears difference, but I think any seasoned audiophile would hear the difference pretty quickly. And because the noise floor was lower, I feel the back of the soundstage is clearer, just a little less fuzzy.
A number of people experienced smoother highs, fuller bodied mids, and deeper bass. Others, during the break-in period, have experienced sizzling highs and/or a collapse of the soundstage. Thus far (1 day) I have experienced neither of those. Bass is a tad tighter, a shade deeper, but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. But what is clear so far is the blackness that the music comes out from and my increased enjoyment from that purer experience.
I can't wait to hear how this thing sounds after 500 hours of break-in, which is what I heard it requires. 16 down, 484 to go!
