Tell me about it! Emails every day with new records to buy.

Why do I keep buying records when I don't have a TT?! :weird:

:snicker:

I have 3 out of the first 4 on Classic Records 200gm vinyl, they are magnificent recordings, but I might pony up for these also !!

I bet they are sourced and re-mastered from 24 bit copies of the analog master tapes... Not re-mastered in analog from the master analog reels and then cut to lacquer. I could be wrong, but I doubt it....The Classic Records 45's are where it's at save for the Ludwig mastered LZ2 and Houses of the Holy.

Back in the day when I had the originals, now long gone, they didn't sound very good anyway. I'm just happy to be able to buy these records again without the exorbitant prices that used ones fetch.

While I personally think $40 for a vinyl record is also exorbitant for me, in this case I agree that it is a better deal than a used copy in excellent condition. The asking price for some used records in any condition is often times an embarrassment to humanity. You should see what used Led Zep, CCR, Neil Young and even Bob Dylan go for and don't get me started in the prices of used Doors records. If I placed any value in vinyl records beyond listening to them I'd say I'm sitting on a gold mine just with my meager 300+ library.
I don't pretend to know what the buzz about 180 gram, 200 gram and remastered vinyl records are about, I absolutely just don't understand it and don't want to. I don't buy new vinyl records these days, but like I said, compared to what people want for used Led Zep records and the others I mentioned, $40 for a new re-issue is a better buy.:)

I agree on the value of $30-$50 new vs. $50+ used. I think the best value is still $1-$10 used from bargain bins. It true that it is hit-or-miss, but when you hit, it's gold! Of course, you have to invest the time to hunt and put up with some duds, but hunting is fun for me.

Yes, I'm strictly a used record guy myself and you will always find me in the bargain bins. Someone once asked me how much my time was worth, to this day I don't know the answer, but he said that it's not worth hunting for any record for 3 months or more to get a good used one. I disagree on a personal basis. I've hunted for 12 months for a record before, it's not a big deal these days if your looking to have it to listen to it and keep it. For me, the hunting is the fun bit, almost as fun as listening. I've had about 4 or 5 duds or so, but all in all I feel I've done extremely well over the years considering the ratio of duds to finds. Having learned how to look at used records and learned cleaning and restore skills makes it all the greater fun. Of course, the willingness to spend the time is required and I would not find it so fun and all if I wasn't willing.

$25 a pop (for a vinyl) is in line with the prices @ my local London Drugs (Adele, Pink Floyd, etc. sell for $25).

I'm not sure what kind of remastered albums London Drugs are selling though.

By the way, Beck 'Morning Phase' is ten bucks (for the CD).

I think you have to pay that extra $15 for the LP because of the better sound quality (higher resolution, dynamics, etc.), plus the extra care that LPs demand when they are made, and played.

Happy listening! :singing: ...With Zeppelin. :audiophile:

FWIW, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' inflation calculator says that $7 in 1980 is worth $19.87 today.

No need to buy these again with the great Classic records reissues.:woot:
