Trung (HighFive) came over to the house yesterday for a visit. Trung brought Vietnamese sandwiches and Vietnamese iced coffee. The lunch was fantastic. Great sandwiches on freshly baked baguettes

We listened to my system for a bit, talked, listened some more. Then Trung hooked up his DAC,a Mac mini,a hard drive and a really good sounding Class D amp. It was really a great time. I think his Exasound DAC was the star of that setup. It had a great sound to it.

It's great to meet such good people from our forum !!

Trung also showed me some pics of preamps he designed and built himself !! Damn impressive !

He also did something that was hard to believe............He gave me a box of vinyl LP's :cryforjoy: There must be 50 albums in that box !!!!! Wow ! What do you even say to that kind of gesture ??

Thank You !!

Next time we get together, I'll go to his house..................After I buy him lunch at a great Vietnamese restaurant !!

That sounds like a fun afternoon! It's always fun to get together with other audiophiles. Way to go guys!

Wow i love hearing about Audio get-togethers...and i LOVE Vietnamese iced coffee.....hmmm......i must be able to find it somewhere here in Manila

Mark.
You are welcome, I'm glad to find a good home for those records. :D
and thank you for your hospitality.
Too much fun and we forgot to snap some picture.
Mark gear sound awesome on both setup.
exaSound DAC and Mac Mini, both battery powered. (70lbs AGM 100Ah battery)
Arion RS-250 (custom build stereo amp)

Sounds like a nice time had by all. I wonder what this is like, but I don't fret over it. This is something I have never done and don't see myself doing. First, I veiw this hobby/activity/enjoyment, what have you as solitary at it's core. (Of course it doesn't mean it has to be that way always). However, for me it's about the music before the gear. Secondly, I do not have the appropiate gear to have a get together. Thirdly, where I live now, it ain't happening no matter what which is most likely the biggest wall to it anyway.:sigh: Just the way things are, not a whole lot I can do about it.

To me the the fun of a get together is sharing your hobby with another like-minded person. It's not about the gear or the music, it's about enjoying the camaraderie and having a few laughs together. Perhaps a nice bit of food and an adult beverage or two as well...

+1 It's not always about the gear, it's about meeting other enthusiasts and expanding your horizons. A get together is usually fun no matter what the hobby is.

Mark... Thanks for sharing your day with Trung with us!!!

Trung... Very nice gesture with the box of vinyl (& lunch).

It is always nice to meet fellow audio nuts!!! :)

You are right, it's all about music and company.
I fortune enough to have small gear, just box it up and go. (well, beside the 70lbs battery) :)
I always want to try out my gear to other speakers, and Mark able to let me tried out.
It was a Happy day.
:D:D

Sounds fabulous, but like a visit to the ancient temples of Egypt and all, not going to happen in my lifetime. I don't know anyone outside of cyber-space anyway. Definitely a solitary hobby for me - perhaps not by choice, but that's the way the cards played out. That's one unique thing about this hobby = It is just as well suited to solitary as it is to group.

About time I read this thread; awesome Trung and Mark! ...Social/musical sharing life, just like going fishing or golfing or skiing with good buddies.

Mark is a nice hippie, and Trung is a friendly and generous guest, and all that jazz.... :peace:

Yeah it can be tough meeting up with like minded people into the hobby for a get together....i think the closest guy to me on this forum is Bob(NorthStar) in Victoria Island, BC and he is still a good distance away from Calgary, Alberta
