Wyred 4 Sound is proud to showcase its all-new flagship stereo amplifier, the STATEMENT, at T.H.E. Show, Newport, June 3-5, 2016 in Irvine, CA. At its core is Wyred 4 Sound’s completely proprietary Class-D design. This revolutionary technology produces a massive 750 watts into 8 ohms. Contributing this level of power are a transformer-coupled input stage and huge power transformer. On the outside, the STATEMENT looks like no other amplifier on the market, with available copper or brass machined top cover and 5” color touchscreen display. The STATEMENT by all measures lives up to it’s name and sets a new standard for the future of high-end amplification.

Come experience the STATEMENT amplifier in the Wyred 4 Sound room, #211.

Wyred 4 Sound is a California-based high-end audio manufacturer. We engineer and handcraft all of our award-winning products in our state-of-the-art facilities on the Central Coast.

I think this looks so cool. I am sure it sounds pretty great.

Class D coming of age :P

Read about this a while back, and it got my interest. Have been waiting for its release & reviews. Wonder how it will compare to Ncore and other class D?

Hopefully in person it looks better…. the color combo in the picture, looks a little Hallow'een-y.

There's a preview over at 6 moons; it doesn't have much info yet but cites Absolute Sound on pricing to be $3-4K.

This Statement amp, the Nord, Benchmark AHB2, and NuForce REF-20 are all ones I'd like to hear.

I asked last week. The price has not been 100% determined yet, but could go as high as $5k. I saw it on the bench being burnt in on Tuesday. Looks pretty sweat.... huge transformer.

The new Class D amp is 100% designed by EJ and he said he is not planning on licensing it out at this point. He also said he has directly compared it with NCore and B&O. They feel it is a whole other league. I am so anxious to hear one :)....

The prototype was shown at the RMAF and won best of show....

Estimated price?

What is the screen for, hard to make it out on this display.

Not sure everything, but I know meters will be one of the available displays. I believe there will be a few displays that can be brought up.

Wyred 4 Sound have looks only their owners could possibly love - these new ones are no exception

I certain would never put the Wyred equipment in a beauty contest. It definitely has leanings towards industrial or military looks. When you get your hands on one you can tell these are built over the top. This is area that I am sure most W4S fans appreciate. Their equipment is not designed for the classic in the rack looks, sharp glass face panels and meters, etc. (yes I am describing my home town brand from my old days, as if you didn't know). But the industrial look and feel does grow on you.

I do believe the Statement series is going to be a bridge from the old industrial look to a new pzazz, with touch panels and fancy displays, but not totally abandoning the enclosure design that they have used (same enclosure as the mkII amplifiers, but with the new top panels and displays). I am personally not a fan of the "cooper" color, but the brass look is going to be nicer I feel. I would personally prefer a black instead of the color, but that is just my opinion.

I would expect that after the Shows and launches we will see other top/front panels in more standard colors. These are designed to draw attention and some of the European brands do the same thing.Think Dartzeel. It would appear the change out would be fairly easy for them to do at assembly.

From looking at the photo's of the amp on other sites it appears the screen is meant to perform many of the same functions as the displays on the Mc amps and others that were famous for their meters. As to the color of the top plate be patient more standard colors will come down the line and by that time we will have some idea from reviewers and owners as to how it sounds. If the amp does in fact sell for the TAS suggested price of $4500 I would wait to see what the used market does. Until then if you want to get into Class D the Nord's and Nuprime amps are a starting point at a much lower price.

Dartzeel is simply over the top craftmanship. You should see their reject faceplates. you need to have a microscope to spot imperfections. With the naked eye, Herve himslef could not spot it. The cost of the 458 faceplate alone is like $1K and I saw a batch of 10 being rejected (and grabbed one as a souvenir).

But as a reviewer put it " Power at a Price"

I think you are pretty much correct on all. I believe more standard colors will become available. I think the display is a fairly cool idea and taking advantage of current technology. I am anxious to hear the newly designed amplifier and how it compares against current technology. EJ claims it has been directly compared and is in an entirely new category!

I also say that a Class D amplifier does not have to be based on on Nord tech to be viable. It is very much dependent upon how it is implemented. I use the W4S ST mkII amplifiers as examples. They are based on B&O ICEPower circuit but EJ has created a superior design. I directly put the ST-500 mkII against a Goldmund Job. I had no commitment because I could return the W4S without issue.

These two were close and in some situations the Job may have been slightly better, but in most ways I felt that the Wyred won. All the extraneous factors were in the W4S favor, but in pure sound quality, which was my number one consideration, I picked the ST-500 mkII. The most important sound quality factors to me are a tighter more controlled bass and wider more defined sound stage, the Wyred amplifier won, and won fairly large in my view.

Therefore I put forth the proposition that if the Statement is price above budget the other W4S amplifiers are worthy of consideration.

I think you are forgetting that I own W4S amps and the Job so I am well aware of how they stack up against each other and the other entrants in the field. I either own or have had them in my systems. I just don't have an attachment to one over the other. W4S gear is no more the answer to all amp questions nor is Nord. But someone looking in this arena and not willing to spend $4500 -$5000 needs to look at all of the options.
