WTB EML or KR Audio tubes

Without doing any major search I believe the KR242 would be about double the cost of the KR PX4.
Not willing to spend as much for a pair of tubes and it really makes my DAC very expensive.
As much as I would love to get the most out of my DAC Iam also a firm believer that we shouldn't have to spend exorbitant amounts to get most from our components.

On the Lampi website the price of the 242 is less than the PX4. Though by a 100 EUR.
 
Found it, was at the bottom of the list.

So that's good it's in price range.

Why is this tube so rare cannot find any information online.

Allnic used it in their preamp...otherwise its not very much in service and is being resurrected by Lampi user demand.

here's a very NEW problem (since this afternoon): wanted to try the Elroy 300b with my new RCA rectifier .... One of the Elrogs is making a buzzing noise on the 300b setting. when I switch to the 45 setting it stops immediately. damn!
it's my second pair of Elrogs. one tube of the first pair died after two months. the replacement pair was supposed to be more robust ...

Sorry about the Elrogs/ MikeLavigne uses them only on the 101d setting and is happy that way.

I didnt realize that you are a Total Rowen guy. Great stuff from Anton Aebischer.

No, MikeL at WB Forum has a vintage pair with adapters likely for sale. They dont work in his GG...likely 2v+ output like mine.

He paid more than the price on Lukasz website.

AAdditionally,mike B here is a Kron dealer and can get them too. Ask him directly about price and availability.
 
I got my KR242 directly from Eunice Kron. She put me on a list last November and it seems they were manufacturing a small run just now.

I am in Prag next week. Is there a chance to visit the Kron factory/office and perhaps source some tubes?

I noticed they have Australian distributor too, sent them message to purchase a pair.
 
Discussing with Eunice now about getting the 242.
I hope this is the best option compared to the EML tubes.

Even if not, you should have no problem to offload it. I think there is plenty of interest in this tube and availability is sometime-ish....
 
Iam just a little concerned about comments such as 101d on steroids, what does that really mean.
Is it leaner than the 101d or does have detail of the 101d but the rest of the 300b.
 
It has the detail, more dynamics, more soundstage, and more bass and depth. Not lean. 101d and 242 are more neutral than 300bs some of which are more colored and midrange focused
 
My EML 5U4G came in today, excited to try them.
Replacing my stock 5U4C
