Would You Go?

Nope. For the simple reason I won't knowingly attend any show where there is potential for political bullshit any which way.

if he were still "cat stevens" then yes. he's now yusuf islam and stands for much different things, all of which i condone or disagree with. so no.

You condone or disagree. Which one is your opinion. I strongly disagree with the violent militant so-called Islamic factions of todays news but when he became an Islamic follower times were different.

Have never heard any anti American or violent opinions credited to him.

Not defending him, just his freedom of choice.

Interesting. I guess some folks think either he is going to preach or shove his beliefs down their throats or that he will be wearing a bomb. Both wrong on all counts.
I'd go if I wanted to, nothing to fear unless your afraid of music.

Kind of hard to escape these days, but you do have a valid reason there and can't say as I blame you because there are shows I would avoid based on the same reason if I knew for sure certain things would occur. In this case, we don't know for sure and it's improbable any blatant politics or religion shoving will happen judging by the interview I just read earlier, but I could also be wrong. There are artists though that guarantee, practically hold political or religious pep rallys at their shows.
To each their own.

i left out the word don't, its fixed...that's what i meant.

So basically, YOU know you are making a ridiculous generalization.

Actually Jonathan is saying that most groups have some sort of political issue they feel strongly about. I don't see anything earth shattering in his comment.

I know what you and he are saying, but Jonathan was just being sarcastic and his statement was ridiculous.

Not interested in him anymore other than nostalgia for tea for tillerman. I couldn't care less what religious affiliation he or other performers pick. Activism, on the other hand, is something that often attracts me to a band / music and infuses passion and innovation. Don't think this applies to yusuf, and as far as i can tell, he isn't particularly overtly political. Seem to be lots of oldtimers keeping on the tour circuit. Hear Judy Collins is performing this fall ;)

All I know is that I sure enjoyed his music years ago, many many hours listening to his wonderful music.
