In our new house, we each got determined areas. We are not allowed to “correct” the other in the choices esthetic, or functional. It was worth it to ask a few yes/no questions about my area (large listening room and good size side closet) as my listening room back wall has the sliding door to the patio, and is used for entertaining. But I have final say.
Does your wife listen with you and enjoy the music? If so, you are a lucky man!Having a dedicated room for stereo was a prerequisite to marriage for me. It might seem a tad bit harsh to do something like that with the love of your life, but the way I looked at it?
I saw what happened to my Step-Dad's stereo system (which he absolutely loved listening too when he was a bachelor) after he married my Mom. I saw the same thing happen to many other folks I grew up with who got married. They basically lost their enjoyment/passion/hobby/happy place. I wasn't willing to accept that with a lifelong partner. She knew full well that I had been in this hobby since I was 8 years old, had varying systems for decades before I met her and that I had always been knee deep into it. Since she didn't want a stereo system in the LR (Where have I heard THAT before? *rolls eyes*), she agreed that a dedicated room was acceptable.
We have been happily married for 18 years, this past May.

Thanks!Nice room and gear!
Agreed. I have my own "man cave"!That's a better answer. I could care less what wives think about stereo systems.
Yea, I have my own music room. My wife rarely comes in and never to sit down and listenAgreed. I have my own "man cave"!
Do you prefer it that way? ……….. actually sounds pretty cool.Yea, I have my own music room. My wife rarely comes in and never to sit down and listen.

I do, yes, because she is not into music as I am and will spend most of the time talking instead of listeningDo you prefer it that way? ……….. actually sounds pretty cool.
Well, I’m a cat person so that sounds purrrrfect!
