Keith Richards is iconic.

While his recordings are not the best in quality, this is still a good album.

Playing via Tidal, full MQA

Jimi Hendrix; Band of Gypsies.

The album he was under pressure to make to fulfill a previous record deal he signed back before he went to London.

This is a great live performance, January 1, 1970 at the Fillmore East, NYC. It really showed the direction he was contemplating post “Experience”.

Tidal at 44.1 kHz over Red book CD for this one.

There are few really good labels that record acoustic music in a way that complements good audio gear. I haven't found a new source of good music in years until this weekend. I stumbled on this label, Signum Classics. Downloaded this jazz recording to try it out on my rig and was blown away. Texture, 3D images, weight, open acoustic space. It has it all. This is a UK label and I had a hell of of time downloading the files. I couldn't get the download app to work on my Mac. Fortunately, they have an alternate method where you download a track at a time manually. This worked fine. I popped it onto my server. Roon found the album art and off we went. Going to try a few more to see if the quality is consistent.

To be honest, I find most music these days just "unlistenable". Multi track, synthetic piano and strings, compression, yuck. I haven't found a label like Chesky, Mapleshade, Telarc, Dorian in a very long time. I'm very excited to explore Signum to see what they offer.

Lou Reed - Transformer, Qobuz 96 kHz

You got to be in the right state of mind to appreciate this album.

Walk on the Wild Side is probably the most popular song with a nice bass beat to play with your system.

Sonny Rollins - Way Out West, Quboz 192kHz

Nice album, good sound quality, a sit back and dim the light recording.

Sonny playing saxophone in a jazz ensemble has had a 7 decade career with 60 albums he lead - impressive!

The album, which according to some, is not just an album [emoji3]. It’s very nice though. Kind of authentic.

There is also a nice story to it. While recording it, the Stones were exciling in Southern France. They had spent the tax money from their first success, and had to get out of the country. The album was recorded in the mansion Keith Richards had rented, lack of a better venue. And now I also know where ZZ Top got the riff to “La Grange” from.

And this is one of the Abbey Road Studios’ attempts trying to establish their half-speed mastering as a thing. Very British. Sound is very good though, and it even came with a half-speed mastering certificate. Oh boy.

Your post brought me this album to the table :)

Tommy Bolin - Teaser ( includes the Savannah Woman )

My ex wife’s dad was very good friends with him. I heard a tape of tommy bolin and Hendrix in the studio screwing around. Sadly her dad sold his collection for drug money. Addiction is a bitch. He’s in the ground as well after drugs took him down.

“Cocaine is a hell of a drug” - Rick James

Jimmy Smith - Back at the Chicken Shack, Quboz 96 kHz

Made aware of Blue Note Records thanks to Bart!

These albums really sound amazing and will highlight your system making you believe all that money you spent may be not all that stupid after all despite your family and friends telling you so [emoji2960]
