What are you listening to tonight ?

Pat Metheny and the Unity Band - Kin (newest release) Hi Res - sweet!

Mike,

Very good. Relaxing and very well recorded. I downloaded the hi res version from HDTracks last weekend.

By the way, have tickets to go see Pat M next month. Looking forward to that concert!

Everybody Digs Bill Evans
This is is Bill's 2nd album, and the last one with a ''groove'' rhythm section, Sam Jones and Philly Joe Jones,(not related), and also

the last album were you can hear a bit of Bud Powell and George Shearing in Bill's playing . From here on Bill Evans was his own man.The tune ''Peace Piece'' was the beginning/sketch of ''Blue in Green'' from the Miles Davis Kind of Blue alum.
The next albums were with the now legendary trio with Scott Lafaroe and Paul Motian.

* Stereo hi-res tracks (192/24). ...I'm not sitting in the sweet spot right now (for that that would be 5.1 @ 96/24).

P.S. I bought this DVD-Audio when it first came out, about ten years ago. At that time I probably paid $30-35.
Now I've seen it going for more than $300! ...It's discontinued.

The hybrid stereo/multichannel SACD (Japan) is roughly $40, but I prefer stereo DVD-Audio sound (better taste).
Your mileage might takes different detours... It's a bit like vinyl versus CD; they both sound great, but some seem to favor one flavor over another. ...A simple question of personal preference based on one's own musical emancipation.
In other words; the bass extension and drive, the punchline, the vocals and the air.
...The overall pleasantness of clarity over smoothness, or/and vice versa. ...The hearing is/in believing, the hearing's atmospheric trance. ...I'm talking stereo here; multichannel would be for an entire different book.

* Multichannel (5.1) advanced audio resolution (MLP Lossless) @ 88.2/24-bit.

P.S. Goes for over $100 @ certain places.
{And the Hybrid SACD, I got that one too, goes for $200.}

This world is funny and materialist; old things hard to find cost more than new things that are easy to find.
...Even if they are better! ...And sometimes worst.
