Listening to Cowboy Junkies, Trinity Sessions right now. Excellent recording. They recorded this about 10 minutes away from where I live in a beautiful church.
Great album. BTW it is a live recording. One take I believe.

For. Those who like the original "Trinity Sessions" the "revisited" album is also very very good.

yes bob i love both. they are very different in sound and feeling of atmosphere and music ,even though they are all the same songs with the addition of a couple on revisited. in the little area where i keep my 15-20 favorite albums they take up 2 spots. pretty much live with no audience. great choices!!

The Trinity sessions, old and new, are great but is it live if there is no audience?
Then the majority of Jazz albums are live.
An audience does create a certain tension which I think tends to benefit the music, see my earlier post;
Carmen Gomes with an audience or in front of T.V. cameras but no visible audience.

From the Thousand Shades of Blue album recorded live in front of an audience.
and live in front of TV cameras same tune different vibe.

"Hope" is also available on SACD (I don't know if that has been mentioned).

The Shelly Manne Blackhawk recordings have always struck me as astonishingly lifelike.

I bought the DVD of revisited a while ago but have yet to watch it. You reminded me to finally get it out.

Downloaded Eric Clapton Unplugged (Remastered) from HDTrack yesterday. Nicely done performance and recording. It is not really hi def but the rendition of Old Love is wonderful.

And if I may add this Alison Krauss to my list,

Leonard Cohen - Live In London

Great recording, fine band, artist at the top of his game

No one's mentioned Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds? I prefer the Las Vegas show, to the more popular RCMH; I think that recording, is a little hot (over-modulated).

Belafonte at Carnegie Hall…..Jamaica Farewell…Goosebumps every time.

Hot August Night - Neil Diamond (I have the Mobile Fidelity Vinyl)

Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition - (no, not the Emerson, Lake and Palmer Version) Sviatoslav Richter (piano) Live in Concert in Sophia Bulgaria 1958. Here, despite the mono sound and rather noisy, coughing audience, the passion and soul of the music comes through. An inspiring performance. The original US Release was on Columbia ML5600 (vinyl, of course - but I am sure there are CD versions).
