Looking for an amp/preamp or integrated to drive my new babies.

The Classe sounds good - but I'm wondering if its an ideal pairing?

Suggestions?

Wow! What a beauty! They should go well with classe don't you think? How are they sounding so far? Was there a separate thread for the riadho?

Thanks. I will start one later. The sound is intoxicating. The Raidho sound keeps you wanting more and more and more. I couldn't be happier.

Mike. We have one here in Toronto...Sorry.

You mean Vitus dealer? I know! I heard the Vitus gear at his place last week. Wow! And those S5's! What a combo. I would imagine Constellation/S5 would be a match made in heaven.

Gotta find something for my Raidho's (D1's and possible future D3's!).

These Raidhos are freaking amazing!!

Mike...congrats! Are you finding the Classe - Raidho combo a bit lean? I am guessing that is the case because with your exploration of Vitus it sounds like you are seeking maybe a warmer/fuller/meatier sound in SS land, which Vitus may deliver. What did John of Audio Salon drive them with (was it Constellation)? If you want a reasonably priced but still excellent SS integrated, check out the Hegel integrateds. Going up from there, Vitus and Gryphon are voiced in Class A bias and will deliver a meatier/fuller sound. Just some suggestions to look into. I know you mentioned Simaudio in another thread, and they put out excellent sounding gear but it is very neutral and some will find it a bit lean sounding so not sure about the combo with Raidho but also worth an audition.

Good luck.

Mike,

You need to hear D'Agostino on those D1's. Mark will give you his opinion next week but I suspect you may be overlooking the obvious. :)

Beautiful speakers, Congratulations!

Mike,
Take Joe's advice. It sounds like a good match.

Cyril - you are spot on. Mostly its the Classe's average control of the bass on the Raidhos. The Classe was much better on the Revels bass. The rest is good, but a bit thin sounding compared to the Sorento amp I heard them with. If I can just control the bass.....

John has been incredibly helpful and gracious with his time. He has given me lots of options. Constellation being one of his favs. He knows Raidho speakers inside and out and has told me a good amp for the D1's, might not be ideal for the D3's because the impedance dips to low twos.

A constellation stereo and a REF5SE would be the ticket....but big $.

The new TBA Constellation is on the short list too. The Vitus has gobs of power, its SOTA, has a DAC and phonostage and priced right. I just don't like the goofy buttons. We shall see.

Thoughts?

Mike, are you using the Tara Labs the One one the Classe? If not, give that a try. They tend to enrichen the midrange on down, giving a tad bit more body and weight to the images. There may be a sacrifice of top end air, but worth a try IMO.

The best I've heard the Raidho's were with warm components. A class D amp did not float my boat with the Raidhos; Dartz integrated complimented the Raidho's huge soundstage to perfection, with a touch of warmth to the images. I think the best sound I heard from the Raidho's was with Hegel gear driving them: warm, full bodied, albeit a loss of soundstage, but could have been the room/setup (and at a show). Like others, I would think the Dag and Raidho combo would be TDF though!!!!:exciting::audiophile:

Try the Tara Labs PC to start. I am auditioning a pair now and it has definitely richened the midrange and bass!

Good luck, Mike! Let us know how it goes!!

Thanks Allen - I think the Hegel integrated would be ideal. I'm also really thinking of the Constellation stereo amp and Classe preamp (and later upgrade to ARC REF5SE).

Dart would be good too.....if their new integrated hurried up - that would be a good choice.

Let me throw this curve ball....what about a Devialet 170?

Mike

If you are thinking Devialet, you need to go to the highest level stereo at least. Don't mess around.

I think you should go with the following:
1 ref10
2 ref250
1 ref2se
1 refDaccd9

That's my 2 cents
Hahahahhah
I'm so humble
Hahahahhah
:)

Hahaha!! These Raidho's like ballsy SS. Is Constellation the ARC of SS?

Mike please put the Soulution 530 on the list too if you're going into that stratosphere. Would love to hear your opinion after a home demo.
