Yesterday I had a long layover while traveling through Dallas. Mark picked me up and we went to his home. I finally got the opportunity to see and listen to Mark's system with the upgrades his made this year - Raidho D3s, Lumin A1 and the Hegel amp.

i knew Mark's older system from a visit I made last year. The Salon 2s (which I also had) sounded pretty terrific in his home driven by the Classe mono amps with streaming being done by one of the Linn players.

The Rhaidos look great! They look modern and very well built. The Lumin looks great as well - a little smaller than I expected but with great build quality. And, I also liked the user interface - nicer than the Bryston software - although I have not upgraded yet to the Manic Moose version. The Hegel amp looks and sounds great - much larger than I remember when I saw one at RMAF.

Well, Mark's system sounds pretty awesome. We played some country, blues, rock and some jazz (yes, Mark listened to some jazz with me :snicker:). I was very impressed with how easy the speakers fill the very large room with excellent sound - no strain, excellent dispersion and a terrific soundstage. Guitar strings, drums and cymbals have a realistic presence and extension. The speakers are very revealing but yet I could sit and listen for hours. I was also impressed with the bottom end - did not realize these had the punch they have.

Too bad I only had a short time with Mark yesterday. He was a terrific host and, as we all know, Mark's a great guy!

THANKS MARK!!!

That's awesome Mike. Glad you had a great time.

Mark only makes a change if it's truly an upgrade. I can only imagine how great his system sounds. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks Mike !

It's always nice to have you come visit, and I really appreciate the kind words. Get togethers like this are always a constructive and fun way to learn more about our hobby.

I second the fact that Marks system is sounding great. I had the opportunity to listen to it a couple weeks ago. Top notch!

Mike/Mark...glad you guys got a chance to meet up and have some fun listening together to Mark's system. Thx for sharing.

I too am glad you guys had a chance to get together and have some fun and share some companionship. And Mark, I recently reviewed the Manley Chinook preamp for PFO and I think it's a great phono preamp and a flat out steal for the money. I totally enjoyed my time with it.

Love it when Sharks get together! Glad you guys had a good time.

Mark (mep) read your review of the Chinook in my research for analog components. A good read and definitely something on my radar now!

I will read your review today Mark, I've totally enjoyed my Chinook. It simply plays music, I honestly can't find anything about it that I don't like.

Great review Mark, I thought it was spot on.

The Chinook is one of those rare pieces of gear in our hobby, one that hits way above it's price point.

Thanks Mike !

Sounds like quite the bash. The only Sharkie I have met in person is Bob and I had fun at Chez Bob for sure, even if it was a short visit.

Mark is a fantastic host. Picked me up at the airport. We went to his home and enjoyed about 90 minutes of conversation (catching up) and a fantastic music session. He then took me back to the airport for last flight on my way home.

Brilliant. I had a similar session in Queens this Summer and its unforgettable. Great cameraderie and great music. What more can you ask for?
