Vienna 2026

I agree. Whether you like what he likes or not, he is passionate and lets it all hang out. I like Roy, have met him a bunch of times, have listened to him and with him some and I found him to say what's on his mind.

You would think people in charge of an audio show would have known or recognized the things Roy talked about. Sounds rough and you have to wonder who will return next year. Although I've heard that show is more like CES in regard to companies meeting with dealers.

Coincidently I read a story this morning complaining about "leach shows" those who set up around the main show. In regard to Vienna where everyone can't get a room this would be understandable.

I agree with you and I was thinking the same thing. You'd think the show organizers would have - with their experience - foreseen these major issues.

In regards to the surrounding shows I view them as a force of good. Had the Vienna organizers not screwed up things so badly, there would be no surrounding shows. Hopefully the surrounding shows will pressure the Vienna organizers for next year. Nothing like some competition to help force improvements.

Well written. Problems and solutions were well described without vitriol or overt negativity. I wonder if that is the reason I have only found pictures of the show with no comment on the sound.

Its a show and they options to put on such things are very limited. Show places are not designed for high end audio to work and show at its best. You need to give them some slack here.
When they design a convention/hotel system for all being perfect sound rooms please let me know.
This being a first year is always hard as an exhibitor. If it stays there it will improve. Every single show has issues and everyone tries thier best to mitigate them.
Perfect is just never going to happen at any show. Go or not it is what it is , and you can enjoy or not but there are no perfect solutions.

Hi Elliot - I used to plan large scale events for corporations. With such experience I can state by all accounts they blew it this year with easily avoidable mistakes from a group that has so much experience running this show.

WOW audiophiles are unhappy about something LOL who woulda thunk!
I am sure they can make it better, of course but the reports I got were that with caveats the show went well.
ITS A SHOW!!!!

And as such we are all calmly talking about THE SHOW. That's what people do - share opinions on shows.

No one here that I've seen is 'unhappy about this topic'. No one is upset. No one is 'angry'. It's simply a calm discussion.

We can still be honest and admit they totally dropped the ball. The stance we can't comment on obvious and significant failures is a curious one.

I think we all became spoiled by the incredibleness of Munich Hi End. I wasn’t there, so I can’t comment, but I wish them luck. I wonder if another venue (I’ve heard Paris would be a great choice) or similar would ever be in the cards??
