A further update on the K-01XD se vs K1X se with power supply. My audio friend was feeling guilty about how much money he spent on the K1X se and power supply so he sold it and went to the Luxman D-10X. As you might expect he didn't like it as much as his Esoteric. He sold that and then purchased the K-01XD se. He is now very happy with the se version and for him, the difference in price between the K1X se / power supply and the K-01XD se didn't justify the price difference. He indicated that the K-01XD se version got it really close to the K1X se / power supply version and to his ears and associated equipment the difference was neggligible. Go figure.I appreciate your thought and insight regarding the outboard power supply. I have had similar experiences with the role they play. I'm already set with the master clock (Cybershaft) which is compatible with the Esoteric products. The WADAX clock is proprietary to their product line. There are pros and cons to each DAC but the PS1 is a big plus for the Esoteric K1X SE.

He was lucky enough to get some extreamly good deals on all of his purchases so his net loss was minimal which doesn't happen in often in the audio world. He's really happy with the se version and won't change.
I am upgrading from D1X to D1XSE. I placed my order months ago. I have been allocated a September production. These models are very popular and you have to be prepared to wait if you want a new one. Given high demand I'm surprised your friend was able to get such an extremely good deal.
