Ok, now that I've pulled that dirty trick to get your attention...let's play a little game.

I am going to post the best 24 recordings of the last decade (according to me) in batches of 4 at a time.

But wait, there's more...I am not going to post a new batch until I get a dozen responses asking for more. So, maybe I only post this 4 (how sad). But if you like this list and want to see the rest, post a comment asking for more. If you are reading this and you are not a member, JOIN NOW and post a comment here.

And one more thing, these are great ALBUMS, not just the one song. Check out the entire superb albums.

I am not ranking these, so here are the first 4 of the 24 in no particular order. These should all be available on Amazon.

One Eskimo - Self Titled

The Barr Brothers - Self Titled

Ben Sollee - Learning To Bend

Blind Pilot - 3 Rounds And A Sound

Wow! Really Unique.
The First one: Enjoyable sound. Note the drum set. Front end of motorbike.

The Second one: This was just great. Very different. A percussion set made from bicycle parts, performance art right there. I must say that this is the first time I've heard a harp played through an overdrive effect, but it works here. Looks like they were playing in a bicycle shop.

The Third one: Sorry, but did nothing for me.

The Fourth one: Gotta love good folk music and this was good folk music.

+1
Thanks Jax.
Was into the 1st and. 4th selections.
2 nd percussion creative and malian influenced guitar.
3 rd - not my cuppa

Nice selections. Definitely keep them coming. And thanks for sharing. This might make a great thread....."My top 10 favorites of all time".

It's so great to hear new artists, and I've not heard of any of these.

I plan on getting the "One Eskimo" CD

Thanks Tom !! Keep 'em coming !!!!!!!

I'm up for more. Very high level of musicianship in all of these bands; especially impressive are the bands playing live for SXSW (South by SouthWest). They usually get about 30 minutes to play plus about 7 1/2 minutes to get on and off stage. Cuts #1,3, and 4 are well done and well written- a little smooth for my taste, but I see why folks like them. Cut #2 took it's sweet time getting around to it, but when they got where they were headed, everything was fresh and had a spontaneity that I found refreshing. Let's hear more!
