Tube amps for Alexia's

Thanks! Found it second hand on Amazon and have ordered along with the Crossroads 2013 2-CD album.

I've been reading the various Alexia reviews and it seems that the preference is for solid state. I like to have both solid state and tubes and switch back and forth. I've decided on the solid state amps - but I can't decide what to get for the tube amps to pair with my Alexia's. Doshi is an obvious option. Any others? McIntosh 275

I've ruled out VTL.....I'm open to pretty much anything else.

I recently had the opportunity to spend some quality time with some Wilson XLFs paired with Dag pre and mono blocks and they were really nice. I also had the opportunity to listen to Nick Doshi's Alexia's being driven by his 90 watt mono blocks and they were jaw dropping good. So good it prompted this post. I preferred the Alexia's it wasn't even close. I've also heard Maxx 3's and x2's in Nicks room. The X2s had delicacy , weight and air to die for. The Alexia's sounded better. I'm amazed his amps don't find more homes with the Alexia's out there. If you haven't heard the pair I highly recommend it. Alexia's are I my future for sure.

No arguments here! Nick makes some wonderful sounding amps and the Alexia's are relatively easy to drive, making them fun to play with for tube amp and SS amp lovers alike.

I'm pleased you feel the same way about the Alexia's as I do. When I listen to them, it's as if the artist is right there in the room with me. Some speakers I've owned in the past make every song sound like a recording. Not the Alexia's. They make recordings sound like private live sessions.

Let me steal the summary on the Alexia's from my friend who said "the Alexia's are emotional vs. cerebral like many other speakers. The Alexia's are organic sounding vs digital sounding like many other speakers."

Lastly, I'm curious, what was the source for your Alexia/Doshi demo?

I concur, the Alexias are wonderful. Doshi gear sounds great with them. :audiophile:

He had a 2006 era FF pre on the phono side with a pretty old not sure what brand TT. The other source was R2R his tape pre not sure what deck. Transparent Ref cables. Visceral stop you in your tracks good. Best I've heard to date.
