I have seen this demo before I have wondered if you could take the pattern that is created at a given HZ to build a sound management panel with the same pattern say in foam or wood to deaden the sound at that HZ if you had a peak at that point. As any body ever tried that.

If you could figure out a way to make vertically positioned impressions, then I think it could have serious applications.

Thick felt will help at high frequencies, but as you move lower in frequency, only well designed waveguides and horns are effective at managing diffraction.

Good point that the vertical pattern would not be the same.

You are right that high frequencies are easier to manage it is hard to produce good bass with any system then hard to mange it if you do.

I read about this in the booklet provided with Accelerated learning for languages. Do the same experiment with Baroque music and then follow up with Rock Music and report what shapes you see!
