Mike already knows this and we’ve talked about it frequently.

I miss my Conrad Johnson Gat2, ART monos and Revel Ultima Studio 2 speakers most.

Shopping for new gear is awesome. 😎

Agree with Mike, that C-J system is awesome.

BTW, Joe, since you've been away, I've sold my CT-5 preamp and LP70S power amp. I found it increasingly difficult to obtain tubes for both that were consistent with respect to audio quality and more importantly, durability.

Moved to a solid-state Constellation Inspiration Integrated amp and a Lumin P1 and made my system considerably simpler as a result. Can share photos if you like.

Cheers and welcome back.

I can relate Joe, as owner of the Studio 2's, they continue to please in many ways !

I Had a chance to pick up a set of Salon 2 for cheap. If I pushed I could have had a listen in my home but I hated to do that not being sure. I let them go thinking I would still like my JBL better. It would have been interesting to get your take having had both.

I still have a soft spot for CJ. I've had a few pieces. I regret not keeping my CT6 and Threshold as a system longer they had great synergy.

I don't miss any system I have had. I do miss that Cary V12 amplifier. I used to only run 2 tubes per side = 17wpc of triode goodness. IMHO, Cary's amps are better than their preamps.

yep, my Cary SACD player was one of my favorites , musically speaking, unfortunately it proved unreliable.

Hmmmm, the items I miss the most are my Audio Research pre-amp, JOB amplifier, MSB amplifier, McIntosh 754 amplifier, Audio Mirror mono amps, KEF 104aB speakers, Woo WA22 headphone amplifier, T+A amplifier... even though some of these are tube gear, I do not miss tubes. The two I would take back in a heart beat are the McIntosh 754 amp (it was museum quality and I regret selling it) and the KEF speakers. I would love to get a JOB amp again. Too bad that Goldmund no longer produce these little wonders. Oh, back in the old days, I miss Nakamichi decks and the best turntable combo I ever owned, the Audio Linear table with SME III arm and Grace Ruby cartridge. I would take a Grace cartridge in a heart beat. In my view one of the best ever!

There is not a single piece of equipment that I miss.
Except, perhaps for the Nakamichi ZX-7 deck that I sold last year. I had kept it more for nostalgia than for listening since I had not listened to it for years (after replacing my cassette collection with digital files).

My old flat-earth system, simple, fun. Linn LP-12 with K9 cartridge, Naim Nait 1 integrated, Linn Kans. Should have left it at that, money ahead by a long shot, and would still have that fun factor. Sigh….

I definitely have gear that I miss from over the years. My old MSB transport and DAC, speakers from Audio Note and Norh, and some of the classic Sonic Frontiers gear all come to mind, but there is much more if I really think about it.

Honestly I don't think I necessarily miss it strictly based on performance but more like nostalgia. Memories of the gear correspond with memories of that time in my life, and it's hard to separate them. But of course this nostalgia applies to many things beyond audio components.

I’m going to have to visit Mike and see what’s on the menu. I’m not ready until I get settled after retirement later this year. I’m still trying to figure it all out.
Hey Joe, Cheryal and I are getting used to retirement. We love it but there are some major changes. Like being able to do what we want without having to think that I have to get up for work in the morning (I do still have to get up to feed the kittens ;)). But, we absolutely love it and believe that we worked hard all of our lives and deserve it.

We do have to be a lot more careful about our finances. I guess this goes without saying for most people. We feel we did ok in our work years and are very happy that we were able to purchase our new home without a mortgage. This is the main reason we moved out of California. The costs were far too high to be able to retire.

Hey Randy. I think you and your wife made a great decision to move out of CA after you retired. The cost of living in CA is crazy and would be very hard financially to live comfortably in retirement unless you are wealthy.

We retired at the end of last year, and did the opposite, leaving Mobile, AL to move to Seattle. We are babysitting our 18 month old grand daughter half time (other grandparents do the other half) to allow my daughter, and her husband to work full time jobs. All my children left Mobile, and were not coming back. As we don't have family in Mobile, there was no real reason to stay. My youngest son will probably move to Seattle after his PhD, assuming he does remote work, as he has done in the past.

Getting a house updated, will move in next month. I sold my house in Mobile, and a beach condo in the Florida Panhandle to afford this house. Being with family, and having a happy wife, makes all the difference.

Gotta run - getting fiber installed at the house this morning.
