David got his S5's today :exciting:

I plan on going down there to give them a listen on Thursday. We will be listening to them powered by his tremendous Accuphase setup , and the EAR 890 tube amp.

I'm not even thinking about taking my checkbook, Resistance may be futile !! If they sound as good as I heard them the first time at Goodwin's, I'm screwed :afraid:

Mark, your avatar & the word screwed in the same vicinity just seem appropriate. Could be an omen! :D Good luck, the gear choice really gets my attention.

Those are special speakers. I wish that I had the room…..and the cash.

Yes they have. All I can say at the moment is that they are completely different sounding than any speaker I have ever listened to. They are so clean and lively sounding that it make some other speakers sound like they have a blanket over them. They need some time for sure but they seem to handle difficult bass tracks with ease. I need to play with positioning for optimum bass after burn in. I have them where my Raidho D3's were and that is the spot with the least amount of bass in my room. It seems to have a big huge soundstage in all directions right out if the box. They also seem to be really live sounding. Bob are you hearing the same things I have mentioned?

David, what amp are you using to drive them?

Yes, what you describe is what I heard from them as well. They are amazing!

Mark, if you are going to hear them with EAR gear, you are in a for a treat. Heard them at Bob's with Absolare gear and I have to say I was very impressed, and I'm not a tubes guy!

Alan, I had that EAR 890 in my system driving my Salon 2's, thanks to Joe, for 10 days. I absolutely loved it.

I'm hoping that the combo of the S5's and the 890 is magical !!

I'm using Accuphase A200 class A mono amps. With a an Accuphase C3800 pre with Amsuz cabling. I will go back with TL Omega Gold and Zero Gold interconnects. I think that will be better with the Magico over Ansuz.
