The N100 Owners Thread

bluedoor,

I didn't have the chance to compare it against any of the other streamers around (Auralic/Aurender). The only comparison made was against the built-in streamer on the MSB UMT Plus. Here, I can categorically say that the Renderer was *considerably* better.

My guess is that this will be as good as the Aries, if not better. It'll probably take one of the serious Aurender units (linear PS, battery, etc) to improve on this. At a higher price, of course.

I'll do some testing and report back :D

alexandre

Thanks Alexandre, apreciate that.

I currently have a dedicated PC server (CAPS v3-like) running MC20. For those of you who have used a similar streamer can you tell me:

1 - How would compare the sound of the N100 to the PC?
2 - How would you compare AMM to jriver/jremote? I like the ability to crearte customized views so I can organize my music.

I am using a Lampizator DAC via USB.

TIA.

Player app questions:

I have 700g of music on the internal HD, transferred by attaching an ext. HD. I only see music when I select Folder: Music1: etc.: folder containing files. From this list I can play songs. When I click Album I get only "0 out of 1000 Albums". How do I get the albums and songs to display?

Does the app not recognize .ape cue files to show separate songs?

Have you loaded AMM?

AVM is not required.
On the internal hard disk the files should be sorted in folders based upon genre. You can even add a genre if it is not there.
I suggest connecting to the N100 and viewing the files and seeing where they are. The is a folder called lost+found. Perhaps they got put there.
Not sure about .ape. Is that a supported codec?

Re: The N100 Owners Thread-Hum Issue

I have a hum any time the N100H is connected to system.Even when the N100H is OFF.
I can only stop hum by disconnecting the usb from the dac.
Briefly, for test purpose only, tried a cheater plug to lift ground, still had hum.
Use a synergistic PowerCell to power all components.
Did not have this issue when I used my laptop and JRiver to connect to dac
Sent a HELP request to aurender just today waiting for reply
I try to Keep It Simple- thought this would be simple :-)
Thoughts?

I also have an issue with the Cover Art
Dragged and dropped from PC to Aurender
Have mostly Gold discs many of my music files are APE The FLAC files seem to be fine-These files are listed on" Music "
Figured I needed Meta data so I loaded AMM on my iMac-connected my usb back up to my iMac and transfer data to Aurender
Now uner " All" -I have Gold discs and next to them the Cover Art
If I click on CA it opens show CA and tracs but will not play-infact it rotates and disappears
Sent e mail to support and am waiting to hear back -
Seems that the meta data and music files are not sync'd

When I first loaded the music files, songs and albums were displayed, but were a mess: same cover art for 20% of the albums, "Thriller" as both album and artists, etc. I clicked different links to learn the software and now those listings are either gone or I simply can't find them. The int HD has folders copied from the ext HD I didn't intend to put there (Thought I would get to choose instead of it transferring everything.). How do I delete folders?

I THINK (have not tried it yet) Go to Network in computer>Aurender>Open>Files
I am a computer illiterate and unfortunately my computer guy was a PC guy-Apple just works so much easier
Unfortunately most computer audio is not "plug and play" for me
Let me know if this works

can anyone tell me, as a computer illiterate, how to scan the Cover Art?

Do I need to labell scan only with front.jpeg.? Don't I need to include album or something?
Do I then drag it to the specific song file?
Do I then run scan update?
Any and all help appreciated
(ALL my fault as I ripped using JRiver and had the encoding as APE instead of FLAC-live and learn :-( )

I have scanned. For whatever reason, I didn't think AMM was required of the 100H when running of int HD rather than ext HD or NAS. I have a pc, not Mac.

JAB, when you ripped these files...were they tagged with the cover art?

I would do this; 1st rule of troubleshooting: isolate your issue. Take 1 file...1 album. Select all the files (tracks), and re-do the tagging. Just put an artist, title, and art. Not sure what tagging program you have...or if you have one; all I need to do, is point the tagging at an image (the cover), and it should imbed it in the files. You don't need, to keep the cover after that (or I keep them separate, in case I ever need them...although you can always just go out on the internet and find them again); point is...you don't need to move it to the Aurender drive, and take up space with it.

If that works, and the Aurender finds your album art...then you know what you need to do with the rest of your files. If not, we'll trouble-shoot further.

Chris, yes all albums had Cover Art,but I did not realize that the setting I had in JRiver was for APE.FLAC rips did transfer with CA. Eric at Aurender has been unbelievably responsive and there will be an update in the future that might handle my lack of CA. I will be patient and see what happens. It is all a process for me, some are less painful than others Thanks

So...if I understand you correctly: you didn't realize your rips in JRiver, were in APE. And the Aurender doesn't pull metadata/cover art from APE?

Hmm...interesting, and good to know.

I just purchased my N100H. I am planning how I am going to store my music. I have way more than 2 TBs so I am thinking about storing certain items on the internal 2 TB drive and leaving the rest on the NAS. However, I will need to remove from the NAS the files I put on the internal so there aren't duplicates. Too bad the internal drive isn't a 3.5" drive so one could just upgrade to a larger drive.

I could just leave all the files on the NAS which requires AMM to be running.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
