The best sounding tweeters in the world

Melbguy1 you would be welcome to pop by any time this week or weekend if you are free. I would love to hear your Magico's as well, considering that the only Magico I have ever heard was the Mini.

You happen to be living in the plasma tweeter capital of Australia. I am aware of at least 3 systems with Lansche plasma tweeters in it, and one with Acapella (i.e. mine) - all in Melbourne. There are zero plasma tweeter systems outside Melbourne, as far as I am aware. I think that mine must be the only DSP controlled plasma tweeter system in the world.
Hi Keith, my apology for the late reply. Thanks for your invite. It's a bit difficult this time of year, but I'll get in touch when I have a free afternoon. Yes once i've put the equivalent of 250hrs on my S5 Mk2's & Vitus SCD-025Mk2 (with a little help from my PAD Luminist burn in cd), I'll invite you over for a listening session with some nice finger food & drinks .

Not having heard all the available tweeters I have the Salon2's and still I'm amazed at what my old v2 VA Beethoven's could do.

I had top tweeter like Yamamura super tweeter,a TAD 703 modified from Yamamura and ALE DEP 1750,but the best tweeter i listen in my life is actually on my Italian speaker MONTAGNA with magnet in Maxalco, alnico V with crystal oriented, all hand made

My three favorite tweeters in no particular order are:

Revel Ultima Salon 2 - Beryllium dome
Raidho Diamond Series - Ribbon
Vandersteen 7 Mk2 - Carbon Balsa Wood Sandwich

No substitute for size, but the Big Heil is essentially equivalent to an 8 inch midrange/tweeter with an accelerometer!
"The mid range-tweeter unit Oskar A.V.T. (A.M.T) 650 - 23000 Hz (a revolutionary breakthrough in solving the fundamental problems of diaphragm mass, inertia and self resonance)."

I am also quite taken with the Rowen LMT tech which is similar but without the velocity transformation...

There's a good set of links and info on plasma speakers at massless.info like the older Ionophone and the Magnats.
