Hi Guys and Gals

I have 'discovered' a power cord designed and built in Toronto that has thus far proved superior to several other high end power cords. We are trying to compare it to other cost no object designs. I would appreciate any recommendations of exceptional power cords you own or have auditioned and particular synergies with specific component types they might have.

Thanks

Kerry

Listening to NBS black label 3S on transport very very smooth sounding; another powercord comes up in mind is Siltech Double crown

512 Engineering power cords custom made by Scott Rust/Tim Marutani. Great synergies with Furutech connectors, outlets and wall plates; Shunyata Denali power conditioner; and Entreq grounding boxes.

I've checked with all my amp manufacturers (Pass, Soulution, etc.) and only Vitus said it was advisable not to use Entreq (even though Vitus posters are using Entreq on their Vitus amps with no issues). My Entreq stuff arrived on Friday. I have to get it cracked open.

Is that an SRA under your Poseidon? What components work best hooked up to the Poseidon for you? I heard getting an Atlantis with a male wall plug and plugging it into a wall outlet is the best first step. What are your thoughts?

It's not an SRA, just a stand I had Chris at Timbernation make me. I do have a SRA stand under my Kronos though. I like it.

I talked extensively to the distributor about Entreq before making the move. Their feeling was The Poseidon with the Apollo cables (one to each negative on the back of the amp and one to an unused input on the preamp) was the best way to start.

When I put the Entreq in my system last night, I was skeptical. A few choice words mixed in with "voodoo" was uttered as I unpacked things. I was very skeptical. I began listening to a CD I'm very familiar with and immediately heard MUCH more detail. I remember sitting down and uttering "wow" in the first few seconds. I listened to the entire CD through. I then played a particular song from that CD, one I know very well. I then removed all the connections from the back of the amps/preamp WITHOUT turning them off and within seconds listened again. The difference is VERY noticeable. Not subtle by any means. Equivalent to a major change in speaker cables I would say.

So is having the Poseidon and Apollo in the system better? So far, YES! Much better. Cymbals have more shimmer, there is more decay on vocals and instruments and great spaciousness. I did notice an increased "smoothness" or less grain with vocals too. My initial impression in one word? DETAIL!

Now, I began wondering, was this detail from the Entreq Apollo cables, which are silver or was it a combination of the Poseidon and Apollo cables? So, I unhooked the cables from the back of the Poseidon and left them connected to the preamp/amp. Again, it was like not having them in the system. The detail was gone. So, it has to be the combination.

My favorite cable is a Richard Gray High Tension power cable that a buddy pulled out of his MBL system. I am using it on my Ampzilla amplifier!

That's how I felt when I heard my friends system when he added a TriPoint to his system. It was amazing how clean the system sounded. There was dead silence between tracks and he used tubes at the time. I hope to try the entreq someday.

I use Cardas

What power cord have you found in Toronto seeing as I am only a hour west of Toronto

I've found Jorma Prime pc's sound great, particularly at their price point. Though my perception (whether rightly or wrongly) was the factory Oyaide P-004/C-004 connectors were the only weak link when compared to other reference pc's which use the carbon Furutech FI-50 connectors, so I had my Prime pc's re-terminated with cryo'd Oyaide M1/F1 connectors from VH Audio by a high end AE. The re-terminated Primes are the best sounding pc's i've had on my front end components, on which they work particularly well.

Jorma Prime sounds natural, sophisticated, harmonically rich & slightly on the warm side. Tone and timbre are spot on. In particular, Prime nails the midrange. Prime may be a bit less resolving than some silver cables like Odin 2, or have as much bass as Siltech Ruby Double Crown, but it is firmly in the 'musical' camp.

Whilst i'm smitten by the sound of my re-terminated Primes on my front end components. For amps, the best pc's i've ever heard dollar for dollar are the Siltech Ruby Double Crowns. Their qualities make them ideal for that application, hence I plan on upgrading two of my Prime pc's next year to Siltech for wall-conditioner & conditioner-amp.

I find the Ansuz D-TC to be simply amazing. I never thought a power cable could bring a system to a much higher level. It's something you have to hear for yourself. Logically it makes no sense but hearing it is something else.

Stage 3 Concepts Leviathan .... the Boss for me ! Even their one lower Kraken , was better than the Siltech Double crown ! Lethal snakes these .

Hook up their smallAtlantis Minimus to each channel to be shocked again , but only after you go from Apollo Earthe to Atlantis Eartha . Cheers

Interesting feedback Jazzhead, I know Fred Crowder liked the Stage 3 Concepts pc's in concert with Jorma Prime & recommended them to me :doubtful:.

Transparent Powerlink MM2x.

I am afraid for my wallet if I audition either their Opus or Gen 5 Reference XL's.
