The best new album of the year so far...

I just finished listening to Shannon in Nashville on Tidal. Despite Steve's excitement over this recording, it is unlikely I will listen again. Too much reverb on the voice on many tracks, too much similarity in the tunes from track to track that remind me of the early '60's radio hits. Just not my cup of tea.

Hmm. I think Steve needs to get out more.

Don't want to seem nasty, but in my head I keep thinking of Divine when I saw a Sharon video.

Anyway , have a listen to the new Arctic Monkeys album.

Ouch, How do I undo my "like". I thought the Geezer Alert was for Steve promoting the over-produced yuk and thinking it was produced just enough. Way over the top for my tastes. Reminded me of the last Linda Ronstadt albums.
 
Brandi Carlile - By The Way I Forgive You, is without question my favorite album of the year. It’s brilliant from start to finish.

Kyle.......Brandi Carlile - By The Way I Forgive You is an excellent album. The songs are well written, and the recording is very clean. Although I havn't heard every album released this year, I can say this album is particularly good. It certainly deserved your mention.

I have just about everything Brandi Carlile has released. There is a lot of good stuff there. We have been fortunate to see her live about a half dozen times and she puts on a good show.

Will check out the Brandi album but highly discourage the Guttenberg recommendation. Incredibly compressed and pretty hard (impossible) to listen to. I could put up with the gimmicks, etc and like the mimicking of the genre as well as her voice BUT big thumbs down for unnecessary compression which makes it pretty much a no go for me.
