Wow! Keith - big congrats! They look beautiful.

Keep us posted as they break in. Any first impressions?

Beautiful Keith. Absolutely outstanding. I love your setup.

Any initial impressions ?

Thanks guys. I only have 20 hours on them and haven't done really any serious listening as the mids sounded a bit congested/closed in on first blush (and my dealer warned me about this). The bass is definitely as rated - and quite good. Efficiency appears to be 8-10dbs down from my Zus, so right on spec. The tweeter is sublimely extended with no fatigue.

The biggest thing I've noticed is how good off axis they are - I can hear so much more from the kitchen. Also, soundstage is further back than the forward Zus with more emanating from behind the speakers.

JD says 200 hours before they are pretty close to "there" - so I have quite a ways to go! I'll update this thread at the end of the week when I have 100 hours on them.

Congrats Keith. Look forward to reading your thoughts after a few months & the comparison.

Keith...congrats  always been a fan of DeVore speakers. Must have missed it but curious are these the Xs?

Yes, they indeed are the new Xs. I actually am not a fan of the O96s - they really are quite different sounds.

The Xs finally started to bloom last night, so all is proceeding well.

It's my understanding that the X's are kind of an update on the older Silverback Reference, for about the same price that speaker sold for 10 yrs ago?!

Oh yes - we've been living with their little brothers, Gibbon 88s, for two years now, and have been totally happy with their clear, rich, and accurate sound.

I'd love to try the Gibbon Xs, but that ain't gonna happen here anytime soon. Plus they might be more than our not super-large living room could take.

Dave, who is also happy that DeVore speakers are made in Brooklyn where he lived for 18 years

What improvement do you experience over your Zus?
