Tell me about Monitor Audio Silver RS6 speakers

I will jump on them based on my experience. Excellent speakers. !

REVIEW on Stereophile;

When John Atkinson suggested that I review the Monitor Audio Silver RS6, I never expected the level of realism I ended up hearing from this loudspeaker. There's nothing much more I can say—the flawless and exceptional Silver RS6 gave me more listening pleasure than any other loudspeaker I have reviewed for Stereophile. In my more than 20 years of reviewing, I have not reviewed an audio component that produced greater sound quality per dollar than Monitor Audio's Silver RS6.

I'm at the same position lol. However I would sleeping in the garage if I can get the speakers I want ~! I wouldn't mind :D

They are nice speakers. The RS6 were my first speaker that I fell in love with. The build quality and overall design of that line is great. They also have a nice sound to them and are able to do a good job running full range sans sub. I actually prefer them over the RS8.

My buddy has a pair of Polk Monitor 70 IIs in his system. I would give his Polks a bit of an edge on the bottom end but I don't think that there is much comparison between the two. I think the RS6 would destroy them where it counts in both clarity and overall sound quality.

When my dad was looking for a system for his den, I took him out and had him listen to quite a few monitors. He ended up picking the RX1s which are the current version of this line. He is very happy with his system and commented to me how he was hearing things he had never heard even though headphones.

I think $650 for the pair is a good price. I also see he has them on sound anchor stands. It would be interesting to see if they make any difference compared to the stock outrigger feet.

Matt...really appreciate that...to me, my system is just where I want it...if I am going to change anything it would be the speakers...maybe...BUT speakers I think are the hardest choice to make. I am petrified I spend money and say "ugg...liked the Polks better"...

I had someone convince me to try a pair of Klipsch speakers..said these were the CATS MEOW...yeah..cats alright...Horn tweeters should be banned...LOL. They sounded tinny, muddy, everything I don't want in a speaker.

AGAIN MY THANKS.

BTW..saw a gorgeous table for you on another board. $200...only problem...local pickup only - Local sale in DC/MD/VA Technics SL M2

I didn't reply to this because I wasn't sure of the monitor speakers that I have heard. But the vids above from Bob I now know they were the rx6 and they were incredible for the price.
I was sad I didn't look at them before I brought home the kef monitors I had at the time.
And they were white !!! Which made me want white speakers and are the reason my new speakers are white lol . I think they listed for $1200. I'm sure you can find a pair in the 8-900 range.
Sorry I never heard the rs6.

There are something about the Britain products.
My experience with Britain products ( ProAc, Harbeth, Spendor and Monitor Audio ) always musical and more for music lovers than audiophiles.

Check out the prices of Monitor Audio here at Saturday Audio. I bought a pair of Monitor Audio S1's and PSBB6's here.

What's Saturday Audio?

Unfortunately I am new here and I can't post a link yet but it is saturdayaudio .com They sell Monitor Audio, PSB, Theil and several other brands. They also deal in used and demo gear and are based in Chicago. You can get a new pair of Monitor Audio RX6's for $800 or so. Give them a call, I found them helpful when I had questions about the sound of the Monitor Audio S1's.

Right on!

Saturday Audio

__________

P.S. Rob, again Stereophile's people put the Monitor Audio Silver RX6 loudspeaker (Full-Range) in their Class B of recommended (loudspeaker) components list, the very same class that includes other speakers that cost over $30,000/pair (Audio Physic Caldera III)!
They might be worth a listen, and much more ....

I hear what your saying. I've heard some really horrible sounding horn speakers myself, but I also heard some really sweet sounding ones too. It's difficult to change speakers sometimes because you've become so accustomed to the sound so something else, even though it is supposedly better, might not sound as good as your current rig. I know I went though that when I first got into this hobby.

I've also been to Saturday Audio before. It's a cool little shop in an "up and coming" neighborhood as described by the salesman that was helping me. They do have unbeatable prices on many products and great service. I went down there to compare the RS6 to the PSB T45/55/65 as they had them setup side by side. At the time they couldn't sell any Monitor products over the phone or internet; you had to come and pay in person and then could have them shipped back to save on the 9% or something crazy like that sales tax.

As far as the TT goes, that's about right. 99% of the time the deals are far from me or I'm a dollar short or a day late. :)

Edit: It looks like Saturday Audio is selling new RX6s for $899+ shipping on Audiogon.

Your wife needs to talk to mine. When I bought my Magnepan 1.6's she told me to get the 3.6's. And when I bought my Pass X250 amp a few weeks ago she told me not to sell my Parasound A21 and she told me to go ahead and buy the Pass X1 preamp.

Lucky guy...where did find her?
