I'm currently running an Esoteric K-01X player, Soulution 520 preamp, Soulution 501 monoblocks and Raidho D3 Version 2 speakers. The cables are Kimber Select 1116 ICs and 6063 SCs, Audience AU24SE power cords and Audience AR6-TSSOX power conditioner. The computer is a Mac Mini OS X Server with Wireworld Platinum 7 USB cable. The rack is a Timbernation solid walnut.

It seems like you really enjoy your K-01x. I am happy for you. But does the K-01x is as good when used as an external DAC (connected to a music server) than when used as a CD/SACD player ? Can a K-01x really allow to avoid the purchase of a TOL USB DAC ?

The K-01X's DAC sounds absolutely terrific with my Mac Mini, which still leaves a lot on the table compared to a top notch music server like Aurender or Antipodes. The K-01X produces benchmark performance on its CD, SACD and DAC.

Ken, sounds like you're really enjoying the K-01X. I wouldn't discount the mac mini too much as I haven't heard anything in the last 3 years in the digital hardware realm that has really surprised me, only different.
