I should perhaps have mentioned that I’m using Roon. I know that some say Aurender sounds better with their native Conductor app but how big is the difference?
Roon sounds great with my current Bryston streamer but never tried it without Roon
Would I be better off with a Lumin U2x? Would that be a better match with Roon?
So Roon is always a deterioration of the sound? What has been mentioned other UI software can sound better than Roon, maybe even the Lumin. It's not just Aurender, if you want to use Roon it really don't matter which brand streamer you go with.
Recently I moved from a HiFi Rose 150b to a Pink Faun Scion to stream Roon. I can say for certain that your statement isn't true. What has been mentioned other UI software can sound better than Roon, maybe even the Lumin. I think you misunderstood what I said and need to read the thread for context.Recently I moved from a HiFi Rose 150b to a Pink Faun Scion to stream Roon. I can say for certain that your statement isn't true.

ThanksRoon doesn't deteriorate anything. Some listeners report to their ears using Roon and the native app on the same unit the native app sounds better. I'm sure this is subjective and would depend on the competing apps/software.
One of my friends uses Roon, he has a mega system, he just prefers the Roon interface and feels it outweighs any improvement in sound.
If I were you and you were a Roon lover, it will function just as well on Aurender or Lumin.
If searching for the inth degree of sound quality you'd have to do your own comparison and if the native app was better then you'd have to move from Roon then use the app that sound best to you.

The reason I’m considering a different streamer is that the Bryston is a bit complicated. It has to be turned on after the DAC. If I change the input on the K-05xd, the streamer has to be turned off and then turned on again when the Eso is in USB ready mode.Since you like the sound of your Roon/Bryston system, stay with it.
To truly change the sound of your existing system, I suggest that you consider adding two subs to enhance the lower frequencies of your 3.7 maggies (long time Maggie lover here). Plus consider using Roon full array of convolution filter options to your Roon set up.
I understand. Before you spend big bucks on a streamer, I suggest that try out a WiiM streamer. They are very inexpensive (and typically you get a full refund within 30 days). They are Roon-ready and that on/off stuff will go away. Good luck! The reason I’m considering a different streamer is that the Bryston is a bit complicated. It has to be turned on after the DAC. The 3.7’s I had prior to my current 3.7x’s were a bit lean sounding. My current 3.7x’s have a fuller bass so I don’t think I will add subs at the moment.
