Hi Everyone,

I'm John Tverdik, aka 'allvinyl'. I was an IT guy(UNIX, storage admin) for many years. For the last 3 years, I've been making the drive to Hudson, WI as the operations manager at Stillpoints. Aside from taking care of the office computing needs, I work with the dealer/distributor network, assist with shipping, answer questions on the phone and contribute in forums like this, and pitch in where needed for packaging and such. Paul Wakeen, Stillpoints owner, and I have been friends since '87 when I moved here from Chicago to work for Cray Research. Like many of you, I'm sure, one of the first things I do when in a new town is look up the record and audio shops in the area and pay a visit before the boxes are even unpacked. So it went and I ended up at The House of High Fidelity on Snelling in St. Paul, Paul's brick-and-mortar shop til around '95 when he closed it up and went off to work on Aurios. Ask my family, I spent a lot of time there... even working weekends to help when guys wanted time off. During college at Ball State I had worked at 3 different local area audio shops. So I guess that's about it for a quick intro. You can reach me at either '[email protected]' or '[email protected]'. I'm not sure how much time I will be able to spend out here but I'll do my best...

Best Regards,
John

I have Ultra 5s with bases under my turntable (made everything much more at ease and still). I have SS ultras under my Magicos (with ultra bases), and SS Ultras under my Modwright 5400 CD player. Just bought 4 new ultra 5s. May put 3 under my preamp and one under my Kondo SUT.

Seems that you are on track to isolate the entire system which is what we recommend. Do you have power related distribution, conditioner, etc? After speakers first, we suggest isolating these components next, followed by amps and anything with transformers, then source components.

I will be interested to learn your perception of system performance when you isolate the last component.

Stillpoints! I have Minis under my Ps Audio P3 AC regenerator. I plan to try them under my music server pc and integrated amp soon (as soon as my wallet recovers!)

I have to ask what the deal is with the Apertures panels. There is not much info on those but the list prices shown on your webpage I have to assume they are not just absorption panels?

I culled a post I put on the WBForum. Some portion is pertinent to answering your question on the Apertures, though it may not cover every question you may have. An addendum to #3: Details about the design of the product will be available once the patent issues are resolved.

allvinyl wrote on WBForum: "We appreciate the lively discussion about the Aperture product. Some discussion, though, is accompanied by misinformation that I want to correct:

1. A patent is filed and pending but is not issued.
2. To the best of our research and that of the designer's, the Aperture is the first product to combine a diffuser, absorber, and resonator in one compact package.
3. Due to previous experiences dealing with counterfeit Stillpoints products from China, Stillpoints is choosing to protect its intellectual property and is not disclosing details about the actual design of the Aperture product.
4. To our knowledge, Wilson Audio has not endorsed nor does not have any direct experience with the Aperture product.
5. Due to limited production currently, very few of our dealers have the Aperture product in stock. Music Direct can and has ordered Apertures that we have drop-shipped on their behalf.

We invite skepticism. The Aperture product has been successfully demonstrated in the Shunyata/Stillpoints room at Axpona 2014, at Munich 2014 in the Fono Acoustica/Avantgarde Acustics/Vitus/Stillpoints room, and will be on demonstration in several rooms at the T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2014, May 30 - June 1. We invite you to listen for yourself."

I would be willing to do some seriously illiegal things for the rack! Not the first time I've uttered those exact same words!
