I saw an add to them. Liked the design. Checked their prices. Went away. Their cheapest model is 15k euro or somewhere near that.

The Stenheim Alumine 5 last year was sounding fantastic at Munich, but this year the bigger Ultime was not sounding good, maybe room or amp mismatch . I think the Alumine 5 for its size does a lot of slam, bass, and stage, more so than other cones that size. This year the Stein speaker at 10k was fascinating for a small cone.

what amps this year, Ked?

I have a friend demo'ing the Alumine 2 in NYC @ Gideon's once he returns from Europe.

I know this is a big faux pas among audio professionals, but I honestly have to question the set up at the Steinheim room.
They put the speakers VERY FAR apart, and put just three rows of seating, scrunched together. AND, to make matters worse, put a divider right behind the third row, so if you sat there, your ears would be very close to the divider.
So, depending on where you sat, you got no soundstage, sounds were simply coming from the two speakers. You really had to sit in the center seat to get any semblance of a center fill... It took me a few attempts to nab that coveted sweet spot position (1st/2nd row too), so once there, the sound was good, big, impressive in that that "hi fi" sense like Mike put it.

cheers,
alex

I own a pair of Stenheims and absolutely adore them. The best speakers I have owned so far. Sonus Faber Amatis, Krell Modulari Duos and Magico Q3s and now the Alumine 3 Ways. Using them with Nagras.
Tempted to move up to either the 5 or the Ultimes.
