My wife came home today to inform me of a show local to us on Sunday. Ummmm, I think we'll be attending. :audiophile:

Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, Bernstein’s Candide Overture, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 featuring pianist Andrei Gavrilov.

We've not seen an orchestra perform in this small theater (seen other artists, but not a symphony) but anticipate it will sound great.

Mike, that sounds like a great night of music!:audiophile: I do hope you get to go!

What an opportunity. Sounds like a really fine, crowd pleasing program. I have been ripping my EMI vinyl collection and just ripped one of their great recordings originally released on the Russian Melodiya label, done live when they were known as the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra under their legendary conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky, back in the '60's. Gavrilov is a fine pianist also. He also recorded for EMI back in the '70's, so he is should be about 60. He won the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition, the one that Cliburn won in 1958. I think I have a recording of him playing the Rach 3.
