Just got a notice that Spotify is rolling out lossless streaming worldwide.

That will be nice!

IMO Spotify still does a better job of letting me find new music than Qobuz. In fact, although I enjoy Qobuz I am surprised at how amazingly lackluster its ability is at suggesting music discovery.

I also subscribe to Qobuz and totally agree that Spotify is much better at suggesting/finding new music.

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to check it out this weekend. Hopefully it's an improvement.
 
I've cancelled my Spotify and Qobuz subscriptions. I've decided to stay with the free Spotify and listen to lossy lossy music via Airplay.
 
In my opinion lossless is misleading marketing and giving the impression that the incoming signal is being oversampled and that is not true, 44 kHz is the same sample rate as a cd.

Secondly: due to limitations in physics 24 bit does not exist, because of deviations in the capacitors, trafo etcetera the last bits are never being transcribed into an analog signal: I don’t think there are setups on the market which are able to translate the last bits of a 16 bit input signal. My ladder dac has only 8 bit and it sounds amazing. I doubt if Suncoast Audio has a setup in the house that is able to translate all 16 bits, I think it is nowadays still impossible to do that.

Conclusion “Lossless” spotify is nothing more then cd quality

No, because Tidal/Qobuz streams are with 192kHz 24 bit better then cd quality 44 kHz/16 bit.
 
So what would be your reason to choose one over the other?
Tidal $10.99 month
Spotify $11.99 month
Qobuz $10.83 month

If I have to choose just one, I would pick Spotify because 1) it has better graphical user interface, 2) better music recommendations, 3) allows jamming sessions with friends, and 4) most people are familiar with Spotify.

I totally agree with you I also think that lossless is overhyped Its basically just CD quality and I also think that 24-bit is mostly theoretical since real setups lose those last bits in noise.
 
It's interesting how some prefer one streaming service over another based on SQ.

We were comparing same songs on Tidal vs Qobuz there actually was a slight difference. Qobuz had more of a relaxed presentation. Where Tidal comparatively sounded slightly more energetic. I preferred Tidal but the other two guys liked Qobuz. So if any difference is detected it will come to preference.

I wonder what on either service is done to have a difference. Can Qobuz tweak pitch to give a more relaxed sound? I sometimes feel Tidal may have a way to boost the bass on their service. I'd like to know if these services have that ability. My guess is yes since it's all digital.
