SP20

There is a link to info on it , I think Cyril put it up a few days ago.
It's $9000 with phonostage. If I remember correctly

MikeCh...wizard = Matej Isak, the Editor-In-Chief/owner of the "Mono and Stereo" hi-end audio website (Mono and Stereo High-End Audio Magazine). So no, that is not his SP-20, I believe hw was just previewing it when it first came out.

Thanks for the info Cyril, much appreciated.

So in that case, does anyone else here own the SP20?

Curious to learn opinions of others if they have experience with this unit. The recent Stereophile review caught my eye.

Caught my eye too, especially the quality of the phono stage on-board.

I mentioned this new preamp in my CES show report. I guess you missed it. I awarded it my "Best New Preamp". http://www.audioshark.org/showthread.php?t=4049

I listened to the SP20 extensively with ARC REF250 amps and the new Sonus Faber Olympica III speakers. I spoke with ARC and they said the phonostage in it was excellent (ARC PH8 equivalent). The slimmer design is also quite appealing, along with the touchscreen.

Yes, I did miss your report.

Like you and Cyril (and Bob Reina) have mentioned, having both a high quality linestage and phono amp section (stating they are equivalent to the LS17 SE/LS27 + PH8) is extremely inviting especially if this kind of performance can be had in a single-box unit.

New ARC SP20 Review:

"With the neutral, detailed, dynamic, and flexible SP20, Audio Research has hit one out of the park. The company has provided in the SP20 a level of performance of both phono and line stage that would cost almost twice as much to match with ARC separates....ARC has included in the SP20 features derived from their flagship Reference 10 line stage, as well as a first-rate headphone amplifier. I never thought I'd call a $9000 preamp a bargain, but the SP20 is just that."

Nice Nelson! How's does it compare to the REF10?

Their best aesthetic so far IMHO. Industrial/functional cloaked on appeal and graceful lines (eg the etching around the knobs and display).
