Sony PS3 CHECHA/B/C v3.55 and lower - SACD Support

So I managed to find a 60GB PS3 CHECHA12 still at v3.10. Unit is still protected in clear sticker plastic and has been in storage for most of its life. Never been opened, never been modified. Ready for my servicing. First thing, I will probably reapply thermal paste throughout on this ageing machine.

I think I scored the holy grail of PS3 but for me its all about the SACD!

After pulling all of your remaining hair out (assuming you have any), you can use them to rip SACD discs to DSD files.

It's really quite easy to rip/backup your music once the machine is configured.

From where I sit, so does 99% of all the computer / digital stuff you guys talk about (in an endless stream of acronyms no less).

Funny thing is, many would consider me a computer-geek though I've had a hard time shedding that skin since I've been involved on the network connectivity / break-fix / build out side of IT for the past four years instead of "computers".

Regardless, all this computer-audio stuff just makes my head spin since there are seemingly no standards for anything and by next week it all gets turned up on it's ear due to the newest (1 week old) method or technology that will last for you guessed it....one more week before the next NEW thing hits.

I don't know how you guys can keep up much less spend money on the ever moving target in hopes of feeling comfortable with any purchase.

The connectivity standards haven't changed much over the years so that's where I remain focused....

Good point Mike. I feel the same way. From where I sit, the audio industry was selling CD players one day and they blinked and lost the digital game to the computer nerds. But I think, they are gaining it back. Products like the Lumin, Aurender, Auralic, Bryston, Aria and others are making major gains as most people don't want to work on a computer all day long and then come home and use one for their relaxation and music listening. Even Chris C over at CA, who really helped create this whole computer audiophile stuff with his CAPS server, is adopting and positive about the above mentioned products.
