Very nice. I had a pair of the originals. Very sweet sounding…and big sounding.

I prefer my Sonus faber speakers to be manufactured in Italy. I can't criticize SF for attempting to capitalize and profit on their name and reputation by employing cheap Chinese labor to reduce costs that enable them to sell a lower price point product. I find it disappointing to see the brand diminished to a lower tier by association.

Dan - This is the first model of the Venere series that is being manufactured in Italy. It even says "Designed and Assembled in Italy" on the binding post plate.

Bill.......I saw the label. Assembled is not the same as Made in Italy. When you glued that model car kit together when you were a kid did you think you were the manufacturer? OK, cabinets and other stuff get shipped to Italy for "assembly" so the shipping box and the cabinet back can sport that badge with Italy printed on it instead of China. Woohoo!

If I am mistaken I will withdraw my comment but as I presently understand it Sonus faber trained some Chinese workers in Italy then sent them back to the factory in China along with an SF designer and supervisor. Help me out with some proof sources to show me I am in error if so.

Dan, I see your point and understand your suspicions. I was able to find the statement "Venere S is made in Italy, at the Sonus faber headquarters in Arcugnano where it is assembled entirely by hand." on the Venere S page of the SF website. Not sure if that will satisfy your request for "proof"... - Good listening!

Even if so, why does this automatically make the product inferior?

Bill.......Thank you for the link to the Sonus faber Venere Signature page. I see where they say "Venere S is made in Italy, at the Sonus faber headquarters in Arcugnano where it is assembled entirely by hand." I am still left wondering about the wording "assembled" with respect to the origin of the cabinets, drivers, and crossovers. I stand corrected with some reservation on this particular model of Venere. The Venere S is the only speaker in the Venere lineup that isn't 100% Made in China. SF goes on to say this model is the completion and evolution of the collection. They did what they set out to do, attach the Sonus faber logo to lower price point speaker. I don't believe Franko Serblin would have gone this route.

Smile.......Good question, but I never said the product was inferior.

For whatever it's worth, Mono and Stereo has a production peek at the new Venere S with pictures claiming "This line is completely Made in Italy." Again it's not clear if they're just referring to the final assembly or whether the components (drivers and crossover boards) are actually made in Italy.

Bill.......Once again, thank you for your effort in locating this information. It appears the comment published in Mono and Stereo High-End Audio, "This line is completely Made in Italy" makes it clear the Venere S is a product of the Sonus faber factory in Italy. I stand corrected.

It wouldn't matter for me but still wondering why they don't print it as they were before if they really manufactured/made in Italy :dunno:

Paul.......I have the same thought. Words matter. Made in Italy doesn't strike me as being the same as Assembled in Italy. Beyond my curiosity, I have no agenda.

Now a days people would be surprised what is made in China, from component parts made for a product manufacturer other than China and assembled in another country, to fully assembled units using specifications from a manufacturer in another country. As long as the Quality Control is tight I don't find it a big deal. Sure a lot of companies note made and assembled in a country, but how many of their parts (wire/cable, resistors, etc) are actually made in China then shipped to their customer for assembly into an audio component. I say very few can say 100% designed, engineered, manufactured ( all parts) and assembled.
