Something happened with my Electric in the Storm the other night

Surge protection works best when it's cascaded in 3 layers. One on the main panel, one at a subpanel, and one at the equipment rack.
You also need an isolator like an isomax on your data coax.
And your earth ground needs to be highly effective, in order to drain the charge from the surge protection devices

Daryl's EP2050 is an ok lightning protection device. It is best used for transient voltage spikes under 40 volts over 120 from stuff like smps, or motors in the house turning on and off. A large 80ka unit.like the SqD one does not work at low voltages. The SqD or Eaton 80kA start working at surge levels around 150 volts over 120 and up.

I need to check out my second system. It appears the older Panamax unit I was using died or has issues. I ordered a Furman unit to replace it and it arrived a few days ago but I have been on the beach in Ocean City MD all week. Heading home this morning, get a dog to watch for a week dropped off this afternoon and a Client Appreciation dinner tonight from our new Financial group we just moved to setting up for retirement. As soon as I can get the Furman hooked up I will see if I hear similar on my 2nd system.

@Mikado Yes Finger Lakes area. We stay at the top of Lake Keuka every spring. A friend rented a house in Union Springs on Cayuga where we were 2 weeks ago. Love those falls. Got there a few years back when we stayed in Ithaca.

Just watched another fantastic Sunrise and packing up. We also did not know when we booked this trip it was going to be Bike Week as it it usually the next week. What a sight to see. Thousands and thousands of Harleys everywhere you look. The sound of rolling thunder is everywhere.
 
Brian, it's interesting when you speak of 'lakes', for those of us from NY state always say the lake name first then 'Lake', the exception being the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain.
 
So it appears that the power surges from the storm did some real damage. After pulling the Panamax and getting everything hooked up to the Furman, My Stratos+ is not working. Seems to be getting no power. There are 4 little fuses inside that all look OK. The rocker switch On/Off is not lighting up.

Here is the bigger problem, I Suck with electrical aside from light switches and outlets. I am unsure just how to check the switch. I used my Meter on OHM setting and touched the top and bottom poles on the switch. Off = 0 ohm and On = 2.3 ohm.

Any suggestions are welcome as I don't think there is anyone close enough to me to look at this Amp.

When I was a kid my grandparents had a place on lake chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.
I'm serious. That's the name. My grandfather got the house plans from Sears catalog or somewhere and he, his brothers and my teenage father built it over a couple years.

My dad built one of those Sears houses before I was born

well first off, when checking a 2 pole switch the wires need to be removed. When switched on if it fails to show continuity or fails to show an open circuit when switched off it has failed.

By your picture the wires in the middle are part of the internal 'light circuit' ?

Thanks Dave. Someone suggested checking the continuity of the fuses and not just a visual check so that is on my to do list. I guess instead of testing just the switch, there has to be a way to check if power gets through it without un-soldering it. I will search on that also.
