Some photos from my trip to Boston

Mike,

What a treat! Looks like you had a terrific time. Thanks for the insight and pictures.

Haha! I wish. No, I have ruled out many though. If I had to pick today, it would be the Audionet MAX and Audionet DNP with external PS. But I want to be careful.

The Soulution 501's are also still in the running. I was very impressed with them. But the Audionet value proposition is hard to beat. That being said, I recognize that resale would be an issue. Audionet as a company has been in business 20 years. They just don't spend a lot on marketing I guess. Their products are highly reviewed.

But I still want to hear Jock's D3/Dag combo and attend RMAF to see what's what. Still want to hear the latest Rowland offerings and Burmester. Definitely Viola too. Nick's journey has me intrigued.

Hi Mike nice report. So how does the built quality of the Audionet vs. Soulution?

Hi Mike nice report. So how does the built quality of the Audionet vs. Soulution?

The Audionet won't win any looks contests! Build quality is good, but Soulution build quality is impeccable. Soulution wins that contest - hands down. Soulution is gorgeous gear in person.

Here is a review summary of the audionet amp/preamp (which I think nails it):

Today’s conclusion is short indeed. Without question the Audionet combo becomes one of my highest audition recommendations ever. This is particularly apt if you’re not a warm/soft-type listener but prefer a strictly neutral, energetic, grippy but long-term suitable presentation; and are prepared to address your system building with care. While I prefer to give well-grazed metaphors a wide berth, the ideal of the short wire with gain relative to the EPS, PRE1 G3 and AMPs combo seemed more than apropos. Aside from these sonic virtues there’s high practicality from comprehensive connection facilities and thoughtful user features. The only real nit to pick was the above average transformer hum on one of the review loaner amps. The only real nit to pick was the above average transformer hum on one of the review loaner amps.

The Audionet combination of PRE1 G3/EPS and AMPs was characterized by…
• excellent micro and macro dynamics
• a highly resolved effortlessly transparent presentation based on even tonality straight through to the top which was pure and stress free; and a highly contoured intelligible fat-free punchy bass
• perfect tonal neutrality
• ultra-accurate soundstaging, focus and coherence with unusual tacitness of individual events and instruments
• requiring careful selection of ancillaries
• flawless workmanship and standard-setting functionality

No Mike, I got those pix from her facebook. I'm planning to visit her sometime this week for sure. Will let you know how bad they are. :P

I'm chuckling because I know what speakers were in that room. I wonder where she stashed the Aida's? Maybe she sold them? That room is perfect for the Raidho's.

I look forward to your thoughts.

I agree. That room is way too small for the Aida. I think the Raidho D3 even too much speakers for that room. I doubt she sold the Aida though. In Toronto it's not easy to move those kind of speakers. Mike. Did she serve you nice Cappuccino with biscotti ? The lady works there knows how to make nice coffee :)
