It’s just a quick 2-day affair in the Maritim Hotel in Bonn, but nevertheless an opportunity to check out stuff of interest. I only went there for a couple of hours.

Lansche Audio - speakers with the fabulous Ion-Tweeter.

Recently introduced, the new 3.2 version of the smallest floorstander. Upgrades include noiseless fan for tweeter, and external cross-over/ amp for semi-active operation.

This tweeter is the most immersive, detailed and fast tweeter there is. Never harsh or edgy, just really good. It is also the lightest tweeter ever built, as it has no mass at all. It consists just of an arc of light. The Ion Tweeter produces a floating layer of the finest treble.

The 3.2 is a smallish floorstander with a frequency range of 30 Hz -150 kHz. Yes, that’s correct, three times the resolution of the Magico Diamond Coated Beryllium tweeter.

Fyne Audio F502 (if I remember correctly), nice full sound, great imaging, good value for money.

Little bit of a surprise, new Brinkmann direct drive TT: The Taurus.

This is the big brother of the famous Bardo. Just bigger and bolder. Same dynamic, but more solid foundation. A grown-up version. This was the world premiere, in Munich there was just a static display.

Very nice feature: Wireless speed control, no cables needed.

Otherwise the same good stuff, 9” to 12” tonearms, external power supply. Price 17 KEUR with the 12” tonearm. Color me impressed.

Smaller Vivids. Nice detail, but not the coherence of the larger brethrens. Treble was sticking out a bit.

Avantgarde Uno Fino. I thought they would sound diminutive, but to my surprise they did not. Nice full sound, great detail, superb dynamics.

Maybe something to try at home after I concluded last week that Duos are too large for my space. But I have a Uno DX home demo coming up next week. Maybe they are not a bad idea after all, as even the smaller sibling sounds very nice in a hotel room sized space.

Thanks for the report and your take on each room. I owned a pair of Ionovac Tweeters by Dukane a number of years back. It was a plasma tweeter.

Great to see shows of any size, shows interest in what we call a hobby!

Laser Tweeter?

Ion or Plasma tweeter would be the correct terminus technicus.

Basically the sound is created with an arc of light. The benefit is that it basically is massless, 100.000 x less mass compared to a regular tweeter. That makes it ultra fast.

The tweeter glows purple when powered. Very nice to look at while listening to music.
