At that stage where things sound really fine with dedicated line and high quality receptacle. Not looking for colored improvement. I wish I understood what a field generator does or doesn't do. OK with some science behind the design. Think Triton and some decent AC cords may b a good no regrets starting point with maybe a Typhon down the road. Thinking tron cobra or python for my amp. Would love any strong opinions.

I love my Triton. I have 2 each with the Typhon. One for the amps on 1 circuit and one for the front end on another circuit. I don't find that it limits the current at all and just makes everything quieter. Expensive but good.

They are also a great company. Grant and Caelin are great to talk to and are very good letting you know how to spend you money the most efficient way. More that once, Ive seen them give the recommendation to NOT buy an additional product of theirs because of ones system setup.

thnx Jock, any strong biases for additive effects of Typhon to system.I think one of their non tron HC 20 amp cords for triton and then begin python for my amp to start. Did you ever A/B it to audience or quantum?
Nick

I've never done an A/B in the same system. But that would be great to do.

I know that Shunyata does not recommend going with the Typhon until you pretty much max out everything else with at least the Zitron Python level. So going up to the Zitron first might be a better way to go. Better bang for your buck.

And on a personal note. The Typhon pisses me off. It's very effective, but its not in the electrical chain at all. Just plugged in to the same outlet as your other equipment. Totally passive. It shouldn't work.

And yet - YES, it makes a positive difference and worth the every penny if you are trying to extract the most from your system. Which is why I've bought 2 now.

Damn money back guaranties.

I also noted some positive effects with Qv2 and qx4 from Quantum/Nordost products. However r the effects real or just coloring what you hear and will wear off or even worse get irritating after a while. Mainly what I like is positive effects on soundstage width and depth and less harshness or sibilance if possible. But it is so inane to even put some of these devices around your speakers not just your electronics. I just want a somewhat sane approach which doesn't involve 39 steps.I feel your pain

Was reading on another forum where a member had both an Audience PLC and the Triton/Typhon PLC and did a shootout. Triton/Typhon won.

I'm sure like everything else it's all system and user dependent, so YMMV...

Nick:

Find a dealer willing to lend you demo product. It really is the only way to be sure. I know it may be difficult but you may be surprised how many dealers are willing to accommodate you.

FWIW, I've been living with Synergistic Research's Powercell 10SE mk III and a complete loom of their Element C.T.S. cables (digital & analog power cords, AES digital, interconnects and speaker cables) for a couple of weeks now. After noticing "different" the first few days, I've now concluded that I can't live without them. Without the long demo, I would never have reached my current decision.

I've heard excellent things re Shunyata as well. Good luck!

I have a complete Shunyata Zytron system, and a Triton. I have to admit I love how well Shunyata gear works. I realized that a few years ago when I bought a pair of Venom cables for my previous amps. I was so impressed with the results that after a month I bought two Python CX cables to replace the Venoms, and have not looked back since then.

In July I bought a pair of Pass Labs X600.5 amps, along with a pair of Zytron Python cables, and everything is plugged into the Triton. One Friday night I am just blasting the music. My mouth was open in amazement at how well it sounded while being so loud. I just couldn't believe it. Then BAM, the sound of silence. The surge protector on the Triton tripped. After I turned it back on, it started making a loud buzzing sound when both amps were on.

I contacted Shunyata, and they took this seriously. They had UPS pick it up at my house, contacted me after they received it and troubleshot the problem, repaired it, and shipped it back to me the day after they received it. Caelin Gabriel even followed up on this issue. Along with being repaired, they included a set of spikes. Other than the inconvenience, this whole thing cost me zero.

This week I ordered a Cyclops for the amps, an Anaconda for the Cyclops, and their new Zytron Alpha cable for the DAC. Every time I read about somebody buying cables other than Shunyata I start laughing.

Gotta love such a responsive company. Many hi-end companies r typically short staff and often take several emails or calls to get a response. Recently Ayre and Rowland both took over 6 attempts Not cool. Kudos for Shunyata. SR has excellent phone support.

+1!

Mike, that is a good idea. Everything breaks, crap happens, and we all know that. How the manufacturer, or its representatives, responds is the main factor in how the experience is remembered. I suspect many of us have horror stories about broken gear. Even the best manufacturer will make an occasional mistake, but if bad service is common then people need to know that. At the same time, good service needs to be made known. With this type of information people can make a better purchasing decision.

Rowland is known to be difficult to get via email. I used their online form to submit my 8TiHC for service (recapping after 10+ years) a few months ago and still no response. But once you get through, service is supposed to be phenomenal. Jeff usually does small fixes and upgrades for free, and charges very fair prices when he does charge.

Bud, are you using a Typhon with the Triton? Hear any discernible differences after Typhon addition?

Thx

They really are great to work with.

Jock, what differences do you hear using the Typhon in the chain?

Bud/Jock, do you use Shunyata PCs everywhere, ie, the Triton to the wall and components to the Triton? Is that the optimal configuration?
