Selecting new speakers

Lots of this doesn’t make sense but I’m keeping an eye open. I hope this doesn’t get out of hand. Thanks guys.

Ha! We keep the AC at 72. It’s only when the big freight deliveries come and they drop them outside so I can break down the pallets that we sweat like crazy! But at least in January, we don’t have to freeze to death doing the same.

OR shovel snow or deal with ice. The humidity is manageable. :D

That was my point... yes, it was certainly unusual, both budget and room size, etc. However I always try to give the benefit of doubt and believe the questions are truthful. Honestly, what exactly would be the point of the thread otherwise. To get some old guys to answer a useless question... really? This is why I attempted to direct the OP to a source where this level of gear might actually be able to be compared.

I stumbled on the Location being USA but the room was in Meters, and a whole lot of them, just like the money.

I simply assumed that this might be a person who moved from over seas :).

And honestly, weather it is a female or male name would not make a huge difference to me in how I respond... sorry, but when I attempt to add to a thread the gender of the OP is not the main point of focus.

"IF" Lisa has $350K and such a large room she'll definitely want these Magico Ultimate speakers: Magico Loudspeakers | Ultimate Heck since they're 114dB sensitive and 16 ohms all she'll need is 3-5 watts of power! Oh shoot, I forgot the Magico Ultimate speakers are $600K. Sorry, Lisa, they're not in your budget...
:( :disbelief:

It is amazing that even with that kind of budget there is still gear that may be out of reach :P.

IMO, IME - the best course - and likely MOST REWARDING FROM A MUSICAL ENGAGEMENT STANDPOINT - is to arrange a visit to Mike's shop - Suncoast Audio - High End Home Audio Store | HiFi Online Luxury Audio Store.

Mike is a dealer for nearly all of the top high-end audio brands. Unlike many dealers, he won't knowingly sell you something that is not one of the better choices for you.

And it's one thing to buy, it's another to have it installed. Not just delivered & hooked up, but installed to work with your room, rather than against it as often - regretfully - happens.

Either way the question is fun.

I personally would have something like the ACS30 into a good DAC, maybe compare DCS toMSB.

Then I would either go with JBL K2's driven by D'Agostino monoblocks, 2 per speaker, possibly explore other amps, Bricasti, Constellation etc. best synergy;

or, the largest Volti speakers. Not sure at this point what amp. Second thought, I'd have to compare the Volti to Sadurni, Sadurni is consistently very good.

I'd also use a subwoofer swarm in the room with either set up. Maybe JL

I just don't feel a traditional speaker would work in that size room. I have heard large Wilson's pressurize a fairly large room though.

Hi Randy! How are you doing my friend? I pray life is treating you and your family well? My new friend John S. repaired my Mastersound Reference 845 SET amp. Now it sounds even better than when I first purchased it new in 2001! On a sad note, I had to sell the T+A Amp 8, but I actually made a small profit which helped pay some bills. On a different note --{pun definitely intended}-- it was the very fact that many people had suggested Magico speakers to Lisa that I deliberately choose the Magico Ultimate speaker! The Magico Ultimate speakers have been my $600K "If I ever hit the Lotto speakers..." since the very first time I saw them.

That became especially true for me ever since I visited Suncoast Audio a few years back now. Lukasz Fikus of Lampizator was there and demonstrated his absolutely amazing Lampizator Pacific DAC! I don't remember which Magico speakers were being used, but I remember they sounded wonderful and had more realistic sounding bass than almost every subwoofer I ever heard. I'd like to think if one of Magico's less expensive models, like their M2 --{I may be mistaken on the model number, and I mean "less expensive" compared to their Ultimate Horn speaker}-- was voiced so neutrally it allowed the Pacific DAC's glorious sonics to shine through as wonderfully as they did. I could only imagine what their Ultimate Horn model will sound like! In my new Lotto home someday...

That is very interesting about the Lampi Dac. I went to a local Audiophile club in home demo of Pure Audio Project, Hattor, and Lampi. I heard music like never before and not since. (I don't get out much :))

There was one track in particular played that day that blew me away. Jessica Williams - Heather from Live at Yoshi's. Basement system was a prototype Lampi Integrated. (not sure if it ever went to market) the Lampi Pacific, and they were rolling tubes every hour, and the Pure Audio Trio with the Voxative Field Coil drivers.

I was not familiar with the music and the guy sitting next to me clued me in. It was just so live and realistic and the overall system was fantastic. I ordered the disk when I got home but no matter what system I play this track on, mine or audio store demos, nothing has come close to the sound I heard at the gathering.

The upstairs system was a Hattor Int with the Atlantic DAC and the Pure Audio Duet which was also nice for a smaller room. The living room was also Lampi with the Quintet.

I guess what I am trying to say is the Pacific DAC is pretty special if you have the cash and makes music sound like no other system (that I have heard) It might not be just the Speaker, that DAC has so much to do with it maybe no matter what speaker.

Cheers

So true, troll or not, a fun thread when things are quite dead.

How about the Pure Audio Quintet 15 with D'iAg Relentless Amps and Pre, Pacific DAC, and a nice Luxman CDP.

Jessica Williams ..! Hey thats my recording ..... :)

The lampi DAC’s are the most natural sounding IMO if setup and configured correctly, even if not using the Pacific model , not surprised you felt that way ..!

Glad you got your old favorite amp repaired and back to its old self. We both know the T+A is a great little amp but we both we trying different directions at the time. I am currently very happy with the MBL that I came across!
