I wanted to formally introduce myself from the UK.

Been into HiFi for 32 years now. Steadily upgrading over the years and selling second hand to finance upgrades. I am including some images because I believe they are better than words.

First the vinyl front end which centres around the Prometheus turntable. There are only nine of these worldwide.I am using a Schroeder reference tonearm and Lyra Titan i cartridge.

This signal feeds into the Whest Black Edition mono phono stage.

I have a Modwright LS36.5 pre amp and Nagra VPA monos with PS Vane WE845 output valves.

I replaced my Nagra DAC with this Meitner MA-1;-

To play CDs I have a Nagra CDT transport and DH Labs AES/EBU interconnect.

For streaming I have a Rasberry Pi and HiFi Berry digi plus card. Nordost Valhalla links this to the Meitner. This Paul Hynes supply powers the Rasberry Pi;-

Power distribution is from this Nordost Thor which has a Quantum QX2 between the wall and the Thor.

Speakers are the 'window' of the system and I run Raidho C1.1.

Speaker cables are Audience AU24SE and interconnects are by Yannis Tone, a silver litz.I am in the process of upgrading the internal fuses to SR Red. For equipment feet this is either HRS Nimbus or Nordost Sort Kones.

I am happy to answer any questions.

Regards

Steve

Welcome to AS Steve, that's quite an outstanding system you have assembled. Your analog front end must be superb! I have a buddy with Nagra VPA amps driving Kharma speakers so I know them well. I'm a bit surprised by your decision to replace the Nagra DAC with a Meitner MA-1, so I would be curious to know your thoughts on that comparison. Enjoy the tunes!

Hi Steve! Welcome to AS. What a beautiful system. How are the 845 amps on the D1's? Interesting combo. I like it!

Welcome, and thanks for sharing. Lovely gear.

I do share your taste in DACs und am intrigued about the Paul Hynes power supplies, anything you can tell? At some point I was considering one but went another route for some reason. Paul seems however to be a nice guy.

Yes its probably the ultimate linear supply for the Pi. As you can see in the picture you can opt for a silver DC lead. Takes the Pi to another level. To finish I also introduced a SBooster linear supply for the wireless router which increased resolution again.

Interesting system. I am curious as to what led you to replace the Nagra Dac (HD Dac?) with the Meitner. Would you care to elaborate?

Incidentally, I am in London as I write this. Bit chilly but at least it is sunny[emoji3]

Sorry to confuse everyone. Regerence the Nagra DAC, I am referring to the original 2004 24/192 dac and not the latest HD DAC. The Meitner has later digital technology and class A balanced output stages. It is clearly better than the Nagra 24/192.

Hi Mike,

C1.1 not D1. The amp purchase was originally intended for my previous speaker Verity Audio Parsifal Ovation. Nagra VPA goes very well with this speaker. Great for 25hz bass response and electrostatic like midrange. However, I did not believe the treble was in the same league as the other drive units.

So I replaced them with the little Raidhos. Treble now state of the art. Better transient speed and ultimate resolution. (This from a speaker half the cost). OK bass is not as extended as before.

So I have kept the VPAs. Don't think many use valves with Raidho. Bass is not as tight as say a Solution or Vitus but the richness of tone and 3D sound staging is right up there. I am happy with the results.

The Verity Leonore that came out later were much better than the Parsifal Ovations. Apart from being higher sensitivity (93db compared to 89db, so working better with lower wattage valves) they had a much more open and mellifluous midrange like stats making the ovations sound like regular boxes. If you want to listen to one with Nagra you can visit Midland Audio in Birmingham or there is also a dealer on the outskirts of London. I have heard them with Jadis 100w, Vac 300b 30w, NAT Sets 160w, Pass Labs 100w class A (which I also heard in the same room with Parsifal Ovations, which I have also heard with CJ).

The Leonores would be my favorite mid priced cones (more than higher priced Alexias, Focals, Rockports, Avalons, or Vandys). I am normally a panel and horn guy. But for cones unless I could afford space and money for something like an Alexandria X2S2, I will settle for a Verity Leonore, nice valves amps, with JL subs, TT and Lampi.

ps: I sold mine to Midland Audio, as I wanted them out so that I can either sell or rent out my flat.

Yes I remember your for sale forum listing for them. Looking at the pictures they seem to have the same tweeter as my friends Amadis. Interestingly the latest Parsifal Anniversary has changed to a similar tweeter. Pleased you secured a sale.

I had had a Jadis Defy 7 years ago. Big powerful sound with six output tubes per channel.

New cartridge in the house;-
