Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt - A Meeting By The River

Wonderful recording and music! Wish he would also release Kavi's Music for the Motherless Child. Sadly, though, Chad would be hard pressed to sell 100 copies. But simply simply superb playing by Martin Simpson and Wu Mann --and when you hear Mann play the Pipa live--you to start to realize how real the sound of the CD is. Now it was originally an analog, two track 1/2 inch (1-inch) recording done on one of Tim's specially modded machines and would be interesting to hear on LP or tape. I know I wanted to get a copy of the tape but Kavi no longer has the tape machine.

Nice catch Bruce, I m might just get 'another' copy...im a sucker for deal.

Kavi said he wouldn't redo the Water lily catalog again on vinyl but last year released it on hi res (HD tracks).:sigh: the Dom Um Romao "Saudades" on Water lily is another killer record.

Technically Kavi didn't release the LPs. They were all "sponsored" by different companies and magazines. :)

Two other great WL are the two that George Cardas sponsored and the first Ali Akbar Khan; the TAS release, not so much. Jose Neto sponsored by AQ is also one to look out for.

Thanks, Bruce, ordered.

I love the Water Lily catalog, both for sonics and music. I wish they had put more out on vinyl. Tabula Rasa remains one of my favorites. I'm sure Music for the Motherless Child would be exquisite.

Get the CD. It's been one of my long time references.

Will do. I saw one on flea-bay but did not want to pay a ransome's price for the CD...

The CD is awesome. It is a reference recording. I have been listening to if for years. I just might spring for the LP but the CD just sounds so good.
