To quote a Scandanavian friend "You have been marketed."
Listening to my circa 1977 Braun Output Cs with cast aluminum enclosures on a Mac 275 on my office system.
What's old is new again.

Seriously?
From the Magico website: "MAGICO has pioneered the use of aluminum in loudspeakers design. We built our first aluminum enclosure back in 1994 and have never looked back. Extremely stiff yet easy to damp, a properly designed aluminum enclosure is the ideal platform for high-performance loudspeakers. So inert, the enclosures have no discernible coloration of their own-allowing the drivers to operate with the utmost clarity and dynamics. Though costly to implement, the use of aluminum in our enclosures plays a vital role in our design philosophy."
Me thinks there's a difference between:

I've had my Cygnus for less than a week and I'm already pining for another beau.

Wow 150K! I guess I won't be putting my poor little Cygnus up for sale any time soon towards an upgrade!
Actually Mike, Andy used aluminum for the front baffle in both the (ahem, my) Cygnus as well as the Atria, but you are right, the Lyra is the first Aluminum Enclosure from Rockport, albeit in a constrained layer construction with an inner and outer aluminum shell with the middle layer filled with an epoxy granite co-polymer, so no ring Joe
. The construction is called DAMSTIF. I think this construction is unique thus far in the high end. I can hardly wait to hear them! I've had my Cygnus for less than a week and I'm already pining for another beau.

WOW! Really?
Is the Cygnus not to your liking or are you in lust with the Lyra?
Wow, didn't know that those Brauns had the aluminium enclosure. Do you know what is the exact model name ? I would buy a pair myself, just for fun.
I thought it was Goldmund, in the early 80s, who pioneered the use of aluminium in a speaker design in their Apologue model.

The original Apoogues, launched in 1988 at the Hotel Nikko in Chicago, was not aluminum. Goldmund enclosures became aluminum a little later.
In the US the speaker was called Braun Output C. There was a version with a mounting bracket as well.
Thanks for the info.
I believe the full name of the Braun speaker is Output Compact:

The one with the mounting bracket is C8 or L100.
