What was the sleeper of the show for you?

For me, it has to be the Gamut standmount speakers. They weren't at the performance level of the Sopra 1's, but they had a very good sound.

For me, it was the Broddman FS monitors. Are there speakers out there that can do this and that better? Absolutely. Just the same, I thought these speakers (and the system that it was attached to) produced some of the most tonally accurate sound at the show.

I wanted to go back and get one, but forgot to at the end of the day! Sweet little portable box!

The Focal Sopra 1's were spectacular!

Wow a lot of you shark guys are really impress with the Sopra 1. If anyone remembers, how big was the room size and what type of music or songs were they demoing? From the pictures they look like there 2 or 3 ft from the front wall.

It was a BIG room. I would GUESS 18 x 25. They were playing whatever we asked for. I asked for a steady stream of female vocals and a few other pieces. Yes, they were about 3 feet from what looked like a curtain hanging.

Like any great two way, it has a certain magic, a certain coherence.

The Sopra No. 2's with the Aesthetix amp was also in my top picks.

They are both winners and screaming good values in my books.

I thought the No. 1's and 2's sounded better than many speakers costing 2-3 times as much.

(great sound from this little box)

I wish I'd known to check that Riva out while I was at RMAF... Was it REALLY that good? Looks like it'd be a super product for my patio or to bring along on vacations... People say this hobby is dying, but I think the future/present state is so friggin' cool!

Another one...

I can't seem to get the sound of these big Quad's out of my mind. Model 2912.

I've NEVER EVER EVER heard piano reproduced better than with these babies.

I like...a lot!

My wife liked the Riva so much she purchased one on the spot!

I purchased one before I left for my wife. She listens to music in the bathroom every morning while getting dressed. I was going nuts with the unit she was using telling her "that doesn't sound like music".

On Friday when I stumbled into the Riva room people were standing and blocking my view so I could't see what was playing. I was stunned that something so small could make that much sound. Do not get me wrong I am not saying this is real hi-fi but it is very, very listenable.

Mike, if you liked them at RMAF you should hear them in a larger room where they can really show their stuff. I was fortunate to have one local dealer use the Quads when MSB was demoing their Select DAC a several weeks ago. The Quads may not be included in any discussion of "Best Speaker" but many of us could easily live with them in our rooms.

Jim - Mike and I were together for the MSB-Quad demo on Sunday. It sounded great.

I thought the room was far too small to let them breath. Don't get me wrong they sounded good just not living up to their potential.
